I live in Charlotte, a few hours north.

I had no idea. Haven't priced them. Now I've priced one. They're out of my league.

I always get my money's worth of hacks, even on muni goat paths.

I'm doing Sand Valley, Mammoth Dunes, Lawsonia (36) and Erin Hills next month.  💸💸💸💸💸

It's an indulgence for sure and my game won't match up to those tracks but the experience alone will be worth it.

Kiawah is on my list of must plays even though I know it would kick my tail.

I really enjoyed SV.  Good tracks are generally fun for people at all levels Uncle R.

I don't mind paying for the high end courses.   Just can't do it every week.

I came somewhat late to golf but can now play year round so have gotten to an above average level.  But even when I was a +15, and was lucky enough to play some "pro level" courses, I generally thought they were more fun.  Now of course the people you play with have a lot to do with your enjoyment but from my perspective the best courses are in the best condition, which helps all levels from all tee boxes.  I think it's worth splurging a few times a year to go to these venues.  Just being out there is fun.

Who ya got to slam the door on this Major?  I read the back 9 could be with the wind Sunday which would make the course considerably less stressful under pressure.  Anyhow....I'm not sure who to root for after Lefty?

tower912

If the wind stays down, one of the leaders is going to get to -8 or -9.   If it increases as the day goes on, -6 or 7 leads.    Somebody going out in the morning is going to shoot a 67 and throw themselves in the mix.

Maybe Woodland makes a move??

Wow....Phil shoots a 32 on the front 9.  Did anyone see this coming?

tower912

I am feeling Phil coming back to the pack.  The noise in his head is getting louder. Koepka Phil final group tomorrow.

There doesn't appear to be a lot of birdies 13-18.  Terrible drive from Louie on 13.  :(

MuggsyB

Omg!!  Lefty did the same thing!!  WTH??

tower912

The leaderboard just got a lot interesting.

Yes.  DId Phil turn lobster red after that drive or am I seeing things?

MuggsyB

Wow....complete meltdown by Lefty.  Maybe you should give him a call Tower and calm him down?

50 year old nerves.  Playing like crap for two years except against other seniors.   There was no way this was ever going to be smooth.

Tournament is wide open tomorrow.   I think anyone E or better has a chance.  Lefty is still a magician with the flop shot.  I still can't figure out how he hits the bump and run with a 60 degree.

The only way someone at even wins is if there is no wind until about 4:00 EDT.   They get in with a 68 or so and watch the leaders melt in the wind.

There will be no wind basically in the morning but at most it will get to 12-13 in the afternoon.  But apparently the wind will be coming the opposite direction.  I think there are several guys with the firepower to tear up the course early.  De Charcuterie is only 5 off the lead.

tower912

I would be absolutely stunned if there was a 65 out there for a chaser.

Ya....I guess you're right.  No one seemed to be lighting it up with the putter.

With Stricker and Harrington tied, they should be paired up and put something on the side.    Like a free Captain's pick.   Or the loser has to wear the other team's colors on the first day.

Stricker can still swing it.  I watched him for about 20 mins at the University Ridge range.  It's beyond belief how good these guys are.  He was hitting targets like Rowsey shot free throws.

Herman Cain

Mickelson got through three rounds with decent scores each day. He has the ability to shape shots in the wind, so I think he will be there at the end. Koepka and Oosthuizen also strike the ball so pure, so they are good wind players as well. I think the winner will come from one of these guys.

If Koepka or Louie could putt, they would be at -10.   Koepka the Borg gets it done.
