onepost

Like others have stated here, from the few people I've talked to it sounds like he's waiting on NBA feedback: either he would declare and sign with an agent or come back to Marquette.

I think everyone is expecting him to come back (my friend's sister works in the program and her expectation since Shaka got hired has been everyone returns sans Symir, and that hasn't changed).  I perused the draft board mocks and Dawson isn't in the top 100 of NBADraft, ESPN, or NBADraftRoom.  He's the 60th ranked prospect in the 2022 Draft on NBADraftRoom.  So it would be stunning if he was getting the kind of feedback that prompted him to leave, IMO.

I think he's a 3-year guy at MU, same with DJ (I guess that would make him a 4-year college player).  Hopefully they value making a couple successful runs at the tourney, and would love to see him announce he's coming back here soon.

Shama is a good guy, but he has absolutely no sources. He cites "reports," as anybody can do.

Chet is going to be a Zag and I believe Dawson is at MU next year.  Reuvers might be the guy at Minnesota if he can get over playing for a rival.

I love how Shaka made Oso redo the layup drill and finish with a dunk the 2nd time.

Oso looks very athletic. It'll be interesting to see what kind of player he can develop into despite his frame. I think there is real potential for him to play a meaningful role on the team. Length and athleticism can help compensate for the lack of brawn in many ways, though clearly a lot of weight room time would help.

That drill and point of emphasis would serve Dawson well, too. Big guys getting blocked inside has been a recurring problem the past few years. Joey H had such a habit of shrinking at the rim rather than driving up to it; Dawson obviously got blocked an inordinate amount inside too. I love drilling home the idea of going strong at the bucket; you may still get blocked if not explosive but far more likely to get a foul called when going strong.

There was talk when the Athletic and Human Performance Research Center was being built of having two side by side basketball courts.  Apparently MBB felt the one court at Kasten was too restrictive.  That obviously never came to fruition.  The Bucks have two side by side.  One is a mock of their traditional court and the other is the Fear the Dear court.

Great summary of something that has driven me crazy- getting blocked and often not getting a second chance to score out of the possession vs. a greater chance of either A) scoring, B) getting a couple of FT's or C) better yet, "and one". Add getting the home crowd pumped up and what's not to like?

Wild horses couldn't drag me into either political party, but for very different reasons.

Went down a small rabbit hole here, but I think we should be prepared for more dunking. I compared Texas dunking numbers vs MU.

(#National Rank/ Number of Dunks/ %of 2pa)

2018
UT: (#8/151/13.7%)
MU: (#146/55/5.3%)

2019
UT: (#11/144/13%)
MU: (#136/59/5.9%)

2020
UT: (#23/101/11%)
MU: (#91/63/7.5%)

2021
UT: (#1/134/17.1%)
MU: (#55/58/7.1%)

Do we need to bring the Dunk Counter back? I think that went away during the Acker/Cubilian starting backcourt year.
