Have a strong feeling we won't be seeing any type of mass exodus that had been incessantly prophesied prior to the firing of he-who-shall-not-be-named.

Had to make the right hire ... and we apparently did.

I'm happy about that, are you? You always seem to be angry.

I'm absolutely happy. Is there anything that would indicate I'm not? Truth be told I preferred Moser, but I don't think this was a "bad" move. I'm on the bandwagon.

That was one of oft repeated excuses used by the Wojo slurpers.

Yep. Contrary to Dodds who was preaching doom and gloom if Wojo got let go.

Yah, BUT?  What if it was Moser, far different outcome?

NickelDimer

I wouldn't be surprised if guys who will stay and play for Shaka would've left if Wojo returned

It always depended on who they hired.  Shaka Smart carries a lot of credibility still with a lot of these kids, more so than a Dennis Gates of Porter Moser would have.  A lot of things had to happen to get Shaka Smart to Milwaukee and they did!  Of all the options, he was probably the one that was going to do the best at retention and/or rebuilding on the fly.  Moser would have been a definite reset.  Not sure who a Gates or other mid-major would have fared in retention but my hunch was is, not as well.  Honestly, even if it's just DJ of the "big 3", that will be a win

We R Final Four

I've seen on several threads how important and significant it would be if Shaka keeps the guys we have.
We were what? 10th place in a weak Big East.
Other than J Lew, DJ and Dawson WTH cares? Sy? You want to retain Sy's services?
Greg is nice.....meh. Shaka's steam will never be higher. Time  to get your boys and your staff. Bigger fish.
5J has hopes Cain/Theo/Koby return.
Not happening...nor should it.
This is a new regime people. Jake Presutti? Thanks for coming.
Onward and upward people.

You're underrating how responsible poor coaching was for our results last year. Just wait and see.

Jonas Aidoo and Stevie Mitchell, too.  I suppose Mitchell is interchangeable with another potential frosh pg, though.  Aidoo is the potential prize of that class

Edit: Jonas Aidoo just decommited

We continue to see the credibility Shaka has with stakeholders most involved in the game...coaches, players, etc...

Again, nothing against Wojo, but his name isn't being mentioned for much...

I think we need to make it through the spring before we say there is no concern with transfers.

And with that the first shoe dropped...

Yeah I meant guys on the roster. Too bad Aidoo reopened.

Yup.  It was always going to probably be a vastly different squad next year

I dont understand why people thought this exodus was going to occur. When buzz took over from Crean the roster was basically the same. Same with when Buzz left.

Because you can transfer without sitting out this year. Fairly major difference.

I would take the Rick SLU program right now.

Yep. Most of the concerns were about Moser and his pace of play and what the current roster would think of that.

This hire was always the most likely to retain players and have relatively high expectations immediately.

Moser would've been a complete roster overhaul and longer term project. No idea which would be the most successful in the long run, but this certainly feels like a good start.

Isn't that for only seniors?
