That is actually a pretty astute observation.  Because it make sense considering what was said a few weeks ago versus some of the rumors that are out there now.

Speaking of family time and discussing MUBB, which of you were out at Devil's Lake on Saturday for a family member's birthday with a large group of multiple generations of family?  I took a picture for the group and they started asking me about my MUBB sweatshirt, asked my thoughts on Wojo, and we all agreed he's gotta gojo.

In order to warm Wojo's seat, it might be necessary to light a match under the seats of the people that control his fate.

I don't think its a matter of not realizing the problem until just now. The vibe I'm getting is that it's more the right people not getting involved until just now. We'll see what happens. Still think he ends up with another year

I said this yesterday, but it really seems like the Georgetown blowout was a tipping point.  I've been following MU ball for 30 years, and if Wojo is brought back, the level of disappointment, apathy, and vitriol from the fan base will be like nothing I've seen in my time following the program.

I am struggling with what the bolded means.  Is it because of the contract extension?  Lining up donors?  Negotiating a different buy out payment schedule?

Every day that goes by makes it less likely a change is coming. Nobody needs more time to realize Wojo has been a bust. Outside of getting the dough to buy out Wojo, Scholl could be poking around behind the scenes. Maybe he does not feel good abut potential candidates who would be interested. Anything is possible.

You're wrong.  The experts on this board have made 2 things crystal clear.

1.  One game doesn't have any affect on firing/retaining a coach.

2.  The opinions of fans don't matter at all.

Therefore Georgetown had no impact on anything and it is irrelevant that fans will be disappointed, apathetic, angry, etc

I hope this isn't the case.  If it is, it highlights a larger problem.

Could be, but I feel pretty confident saying they became more acutely aware there's an issue recently. Whether that's a realization from within or without, I'm not sure.

I do wonder about this because... it might not actually pan out that way?

Selection bias is real, and my gut says that the Online MUBB Fan is way more apt to contribute anti-Wojo vitriol in an observable way. So, as Online MUBB Fans, we all are susceptible to thinking that is the norm/majority of fans out there. But is it? I'm thinking of my parents who've been season ticket holders since the 70s and they might be ready to move on from Wojo, they're emphatically not Online, and I would be stunned if they started booing or otherwise registering their disappointment in an observable way.

Also, (and I guess this feeds into apathy) but some of the most vitriolic/disappointed fans are going to nope out of season tickets... well... empty seats don't boo. So it might just look like "well, demand is down due to lingering COVID apprehension."

I think you're right but I also kind of think that the way it manifests is going to be less dramatic than we're all imagining right now.

I would think it's helped that the main top candidates haven't been hired yet. At least from a list of Gates, Moser, Craig Smith. That may give some breathing room. Although with Minnesota and Utah opening up, we might be starting to have competition for our would be too candidates.

I suppose until teams start getting knocked out of the tourney, the coaching searches won't be heating up.

Nah, it's way more cool to passive aggressively mock anyone who is hopeful of change or trying to find excitement or joy in super long shot possibilities for the program instead of sitting and focusing on a lame duck coach and white knuckling it through the rest of the spring hoping for no more key transfers while desperately sending "you up?!" texts to anyone in the transfer portal.

There are no Projos left but have seemingly been replaced with a faction of throwing shade at anyone who passionately wants Wojo gone by smugly talking about how they will support him as long as he is the coach and  ::) and anyone who doesn't pound the drum and laughing at anyone who expresses excitement over any rumors at some movement from the university.

Pitino isn't coming regardless, we know this, but leave the rest of the smugness about the program to ND

Yep - perfectly stated. Incredibly obnoxious and just a regurgitation of nothing info.

Unless tower912 has flipped in the past day we still have a massive projo on the board.

Daniel

If donations and fund-raising drop off significantly, and ticket sales plummet - that will get the attention of the powers that be.  What we rant about and say doesn't matter.  Money does though.  MU men's basketball drives the sports bus at MU.   They need its revenue.

This could be where not having fans and boosters at games means they didn't have their ears to the ground.  Furthermore, I think A LOT of people turned on Wojo the last six weeks of the season.

It is unfortunate.
I really do think Wojo is a great guy, with MU and his players best interests at heart. But he hasn't gotten the job done. I was very projo until mid season this year with the loss to X, DePaul... the GTOWN loss was devastating.

I sent an email this morning to multiple people in the athletic department informing them that I am a proud MU alum but for the first time since graduating I will not be purchasing MU season tickets this year because of the lack of faith in the teams future and lack of support behind a putting a winning team on the court.

What exactly was worse about the last 6 weeks of this season compared to the last 4 weeks of the previous 2 seasons?

I'm with you, but the third time in three years with a collapse was nail in the coffin for a lot of those on the fence.

Those first two years ended with a NCAA bid.  Last year was incomplete.  Yeah, straw and camel's back.
