Markus is not Wade.

Nor is Wade Markus.

Markus was a two time All-American. He was a NPOY candidate until his teammates went to crap his senior year. He's a more accomplished college player than Wade was. If he ever had a team around him as good as the 2003 team, he certainly could've had similar NCAA success.

Wade also only played for 2 years at Marquette and was a First Team All American and top 5 NBA Draft pick.  The only thing Markus could do at Wade's level was score the ball.  Wade was in a different stratosphere in every other aspect of the game.

Markus as a junior and senior was comparable to Wade's two years. At least in terms of his level of contribution compared to the rest of his contemporaries. Howard was as impactful in his time as Wade was in his.

I think you are significantly undervaluing Wade's defense.

I'd be willing to accept an argument that other great players at Wade's time were better than other great players at Howard's time, like Toppin or Garza. But compared to his peers, at their peaks, Howard was as impactful as Wade.

The idea that you can't compare the two when Howard was the NPOY favorite according to national media before the team collapsed around him is silly. Yes, the level of play with the increase in one-and-dones is lower, but Howard was an absolute monster and one of the five best players in the country, no question.

That's what Wade was, too. But the idea Wojo hasn't had that type of player ignores the best pure scorer in Marquette history being here the last 4 years.

Every coach in America would pick Wade over Howard.
When we stop talking, really bad stuff happens.

You completely miss the point.

For anyone else who finds reading an entire post hard, here's the gist:

Wade : Carmelo & Bosh :: Howard : Obi & Garza
