MU opens -1.5 vs. UConn

I have no idea what to make of this one. Bouknight has been great. UConn doesn't do a ton well on offense other than offensive rebounding, but they are excellent at that. Very athletic team but not all that tall.

Staying away from this one.

the last I checked, UConn is a 1 point favorite across the board at the casinos.

I just check ESPN (not sure where they pull their lines). it was MU 1.5 then to 2.0 then to 1.5 then to 1.0 then to even.

UConn is an interesting team. No real glaring weaknesses. They're not great on the defensive boards and they foul too much on defense. They're a meh shooting team. They don't turn it over like it we do but they turn it over more than they should and they are okay at forcing turnovers. They don't get to the line very often.

But they have two elite strengths. They are currently the second best team in the country on the offensive glass with an absurd OR% of 42.2%. If they miss (which they do a lot) its almost a coinflip whether or not they get the offensive board. On the other end, they are holding opponents to an eFG% of 44.2% (22nd best in the country).

So they grab a lot of offensive boards and defend very well but are meh everywhere else. We are the best defensive rebounding team that they have faced to date this season (we're good, not great, but better than the other teams they have played). If our bigs can hold their own on the boards, I think we have a good shot. We also draw a lot of fouls which is the closest thing they have to a weakness. Get them in early foul trouble and we could be in for a happy ending.

I'm with 1090. If you don't have a good leaning one way or the other, it's a perfect example that there is no need to bet every game.
