We have a building named after Al.
We have a court named after Al.
We have a night named after Al.

We do not in anyway need his name on our jerseys.  If Al was alive he'd be asking for some $$$ for the use of his name and likeness.

I agree. He's been gone longer than most of the current players have been alive for.

We're not moving on as there are many other tributes as you've mentioned, but it looks particularly cluttered on this uniform iteration.

It has nothing to do with 'need'. And frankly, I'd rather keep it on the uniforms and get rid of 'Al's Night.'

And the AL on the uniform is the only one that every fan watching a Marquette game sees every time we play, home and away....

Like the simple solid color on most of the jersey, and love the shoulder stripes.

Not a fan of the lettering or the numbers.

Yeah, that was bugging me too. Misplaced or missing apostrophes are a particular pet peeve of mine. Makes it painful to read signs and advertisements.

These look more like Marquette or Michigan than Nova. Has Villanova ever worn yellow (it's GOLD!) before?

Don't ever recall seeing them in yellow/gold. Lots of comments about looking like MU, Michigan or Pitt on that twitter feed.

Yeah, I'll take Marquette's new uniforms over those.  Looks like they're some kind of throwbacks.  I do remember them wearing something similar within the past couple of years on rare occasion.

The throwbacks they have worn with the wildcat crawling through the V on the shorts were awesome, as are Xavier's throwbacks.

In the recent past few years Villanova has worn white uniforms outlined in yellow and navy a few times. They were considered throw back to prior Villanova uniforms of yesteryear.

I recall the white with navy, but I don't recall seeing yellow. If it was there, it was considerably more subtle than it is in these uniforms.

And if they were considered "retro" uniforms, does that mean they will only wear each of these once? Or is retro becoming their current color scheme?

wadesworld

I actually think the back of the uniforms look really nice with the name and number on them. Overall I'm a fan of the yellow, which is usually my least favorite uniform of ours. So I'm looking forward to seeing the other colors.

Don't forget when we had his image on the back of the jersey too. And there's Al's Run. Does any other school go as overboard for a former coach?

We might as well change the mascot to Al.

During the 60's and 70's they added yellow to their color scheme.

Their 80's unis with the two shades of blue and wildcat coming through the V are awesome. Right up with Xavier's 80's running musketeer unis.

Those ones from the 70s with the stars are pretty sick. They should retro those if they're gonna bring back the yellow.
