Three American men in the R16 already. Four more yet to play, all favorites. The depth and quality of US men's tennis has taken a huge step in the last few years

WTF is Shelton doing out there??  Horrific start.

First set is almost always a throwaway for him

Snagged the first, he'll win in 3.

Ya....he woke up.  This is the best chance an American male has a chance for a gs title in a long time.  I don't think Alcaraz is anywhere close to top form.

Apparently the entire area of the US Open, including inside Ashe, smells like a Ganja Den btw.

Utter collapse by Fritz.  Can't happen.

BM1090

Shelton and Tien are the mentally tough guys. Tiafoe is making strides.

Fritz and Paul are chokers.

It sure appears that way.  I think these courts are fast enough where both Tiafoe and Shelton could inflict significant damage.  The question is whether they're patient and consistent enough?  Medvy seems to be striking the ball well.

Keys' collapse was even more impressive. 5-0 lead in the third set ... then lost 7 straight games. It's probably happened before, but I'd never seen it. At one point as it was slipping away from her, she got so frustrated that she repeatedly bashed herself in her head with her racquet.

Holy Hell.  Cannot happen.  Ever.

People are human, y'all. And they both were admirably honest in the press conferences, especially Keys.

Keys has always been a good sport.  But it still can't happen.  :)

Absolutely.

Listening to her talk about being so "scared" that she "couldn't swing" ... I definitely felt for her.

Jovic vs Eala should be interesting.

He just has it mentally. Real impressive. I don't think he can beat the top 3 right now but I wouldn't bet against him against anyone else. Mensik played great for the majority of that match.
