By most accounts from people in the know, Alcaraz will not be ready for the USOpen.  This is devastating, absolutely devastating.  He's the most electric and talented player I've ever seen.  And Nadal is my favorite athlete of all-time.  Carlos must get healthy and back to throttling his opponents.

There's nothing wrong with my net game.  But the gane has changed since Navratilova, McEnroe, Becker, Edberg, and Sampras.

Or, everyone will either adapt to dcd (diminutive  citizen dominance), or find another planet.

Random foreign athletes who get very into specific American sports franchises are always interesting cause the story is good.

But I guess Medvedev is a HUGE Reds fan. I saw a tweet about it yesterday cause he threw out the first pitch at the Reds game, obviously in town for the Cincinnati Open (RIP Western & Southern).  But then I saw this today, dude is legit a dedicated fan.

Pretty on brand for the most enigmatic star on tour.  Shameless troll and part time pretty boy, but yet oddly likable and charismatic in equal measure

Alcaraz is in but Sinner is out of the U.S. Open.

Honestly was cracking me up. He seemed like he was genuinely having a blast and starstruck.

Good for both sports

I can't imagine Carlos being in top form by then but I hope I'm wrong.  It's been very unfortunate he and now Sinner aren't healthy.  Maybe Tiafoe has a shot.

He doesn't.

In 2025, Alcaraz and Sinner faced each other in three of the four Grand Slam finals.

In 2026, they will have not faced each other in any of them ... and not because of anything that other opponents did.

Bejlek has had a tremendous tournament in Cincy.  I expect Gauff to take her out today, but the young lady dismissed Sabalenka and Keys back to back.  She's fun to watch with her grit and defensive skills.  She drove Sabalenka crazy!

Listed at 5'3, probably 5'2!!

We simply must respect our diminutive citizens.  :)

Nick Kyrgios should have plenty of energy for the tournament ... what with all the cocaine he's snorting.

I think it's a good sign that he's teaming with Serena in mixed doubles. I doubt he'd commit to that, as well as to singles, if he thought he wasn't in pretty damn good form.

Coco is serving much, much, better.  She's less hesitant, unloading far more frequently on her 1st serve, and getting way more free points and controlling rallies early.  Her forehand also looks more consistent and potent.  If she continues to serve this way, we may very well see the floodgates open.  She's far and away the best athlete on the WTA tour.  This new coach has been super helpful.

I hadn't been paying attention to any changes to her forehead.  I'll have to keep an eye out for that.  I wonder if it's a medical issue.
