[Paint Touches] Build your best 2000s MU team
« on: April 24, 2020, 08:27:55 AM »
Soooo, I'm really late with this, but I haven't seen an MU one on Twitter yet, so thought I'd make my own.

Here's $15. Who you taking?

Had a similar thread elsewhere but with a longer timeframe I think.

Wade, Crowder, Jackson, Rowsey, Vander

Not enough shooting but the first 3 are must haves for me.

You'd have to pay 15 just to take Sam Hauser

Jimmy isn't worth $5, he wasn't nearly as good as Crowder in college.

Diener
McNeal
Novak
Gardner
Jackson

+1 was going to post that same thing. At least below McNeal and Hayward. Probably others too

Wade, Howard, & Crowder and play 3 on 5! :)

In all seriousness, I think the following would be formidable:

PG - Markus Howard
SG - Dwyane Wade (although he could switch over to the point as well and let Howard play off the ball)
SF - Steve Novak (could have gone with Sam here, but prefer Novak's 4 years over Sam's 3)
PF - Jamil Wilson (best option for $1)
C - Ousmane Barro (I prefer him over Luke for Defense and Rebounding as we have plenty of offensive options)

I'll take 3 Wades and 2 walk-ons.

Merritt should be on there over Fischer or Barrow.

Wade - 2
Diener - 1
Novak - 3
Jackson - 5
I guess Wilson at the 4

PG - Dominic
SG - Wade
SF - Wesley
PF - Jamil
C - Robert

Good balance of scoring, defense, athleticism, rebounding

I went with...

PG - Markus Howard ($5)
SG - Dwyane Wade ($5)
SF - Jamil Wilson ($1)
PF - Henry Ellenson ($2)
C - Robert Jackson ($2)

Two first-team All-Americans in the backcourt, two all-conference level players in the frontcourt, and Jamil provides an athletic switchable wing that defended the 2-5 in college. And Ellenson alongside Jackson would be like a super-charged version of Scott Merritt next to him in 2003 as a rebounder and help defender.

Not to seem racist... but I wonder what record this team would end up with. A lot of 3 point shooting but not a lot of athleticism.

PG: $4 - Travis Diener
SG: $3 - Sam Hauser
SF: $3 - Steve Novak
PF: $2 - Henry Ellenson
C:  $1 - Luke Fisher
Bench: $1 - Andrew Rowsey

Rowsey
Blue
Wade
Crowder
Jackson

If you can guarantee me that Jamil would be as motivated as he was in his best games, I'd take this 5 except Jamil instead of Rowsey. Would be long, athletic, tough on D, have plenty of ballhandling, very good shooting except from 3. I'd worry about 3-point shooting, but hopefully I'd have a few chuckers on the bench!

Kind of like the idea of getting six players out of the $15.  That way you would have super sub....

James
Wade
Novak
Wilson
Jackson

Bench: Rowsey

Only thing I would be concerned about it is interior defense
