Anyone heading down? Is there a bar that MU fans traditionally head to beforehand?

For those who have been there before, where is a good place to park? It looks like there is a structure near by, but am not sure if that is open for game day parking.

Last year that structure was free because it was incredibly cold for the game. It took about an hour to get out of it though after the game. Not sure how much it normally cost.

Street parking is free in the neighborhoods around hinkle and I've never had problems finding a spot within a half mile or so.

I'm going. First visit to Hinkle. Not sure about parking, but I'll probably just get an uber

Can't make it to Hinkle for the first time in 4 years for this game...Parking is pretty easy. As mentioned, structure or street parking does the job. We historically have gone to Broad Ripple before/after games and just get to Hinkle 30-45 min before tip.

One cool thing about Hinkle, the players run across the main concourse tunnel to get from locker room to court. Kind of cool if you have kids that want high-fives etc.

Go MU!

Not 100% he's still there, but a friend of mine growing up (and Marquette fan) is/was manager at Broad Ripple Tavern. His name is Kurt and he's originally from Oconomowoc. We watched the 2013 St. John's game at BRT and celebrated Vander's layup together. My favorite story from down there was that Brad Stevens used to have staff meetings at BRT. After the game in Maui, Kurt cursed him out when he came in the next week (jokingly). Said it was all worth it when Marquette paid them back in the 2013 second round.

I'll be there with my kid who lives in Indy.  Not sure if I'll Uber from downtown Indy or drive there and find parking.

I live in Indy and will be at the game with my dad. I generally just park in the surrounding neighborhoods. If you want a premium spot, you can pay about $20 to park at some of the houses across the street from Hinkle.

Going with a few friends who went to Butler. One of them stumbled across REALLY good seats at his work. Section 107, row 4. I think that's directly behind visitor bench. Pumped.

Broad Ripple sucks
People say it has gone downhill, but downtown Mass Ave or Fountain Square might be too far for pregame

So is that a no on a specific bar?

A Marquette buddy and I went a couple years ago. Got there about 2 hours before the game, and amazingly there was a parking spot on the street right across from the arena. We looked for about 5 minutes for signs we couldn't park there, but we were in a good spot. We then walked to a nearby Butler bar and had fun with their fans. We decided that if we won we'd go back to that bar. But we didn't, so we didn't. Can't remember bar's name, but it was close.

There's chain bars right by the stadium. Last time I was there we went to brothers and kilroys. Nothing special

Ew maybe I'll just head to 9 Irish brothers it's been the "go to" after hurling tournaments down there.

I think we're pre-gaming at Kilroy's downtown (across the street from my kid's apartment) and then Ubering to Hinkle.  I've never been to Hinkle. Do they sell beer?

Are you from Indy?

No, Detroit.

I went to the Butler game a few years ago and everyone I talked to was telling me how awesome Broad Ripple was and that it was the place to be. We showed up and I wasn't impressed at all.

I've been to Indy a few times and find downtown Indy to be awesome. Broad Ripple on the other hand was very weak

This and if not do they have metal detectors for flasks?

I'm pretty sure they do sell beer but I can't remember for sure (I went during Buzz's last year). We snuck in some booze in water bottles and it worked out just fine

To each their own, but I like Broad Ripple. It sounds like it was overhyped for you but it reminds me of Brady St. with the bars, shops, and little festivals. It has a couple of my favorite restaurants in the city, too.
