He had several great scenes last night [in S3E7 ("Too Much Birthday")], too, and he was tasked with doing a variety of roles all in one character because of his mood swings.

Agreed. That was an outstanding performance. Great episode.

I hope what was hinted at in the last scene of succession didn't actually happen.

No. It was a recall to the dinner scene, regarding waiter.

It's Succession, not Game of Thrones. They ain't killin' off Kendall!

It would be ballsy though. I'm thinking he wanted to feel what the waiter felt. I'm also wondering if there was a recording device at that dinner and Kendall is going to suicide bomb his dad.

The part about Kendall is exactly what my wife agreed that scene was about. Hadn't even thought about the possibility of a recording device; that would be spicy!

I don't think it's a coincidence that long New Yorker feature on Jeremy Strong dropped today. If you read that article (it's....something), it drops so many hints that this is probably it.

That whole episode left me feeling empty. That dinner scene was a tough watch.

Blew through the last five episodes of Money Heist. Intense as hell. Brilliant series.

Thanks for the link to that excellent article, Dish. Superbly written piece about an interesting, driven, talented, bizarre man.

Yes, the article does seem to have a tone of foreboding ... but it's still hard to believe that the "something" that could be dropping is what some think could be dropping! Stranger things have happened, though. I remember thinking Ned would be spared until about 1 second before his head was chopped off.

Over these 3 great seasons of Succession, lots of scenes have left me uncomfortable, or feeling empty, or wondering what the eff was going on in the characters' heads. But that's A-OK, because TV or movies are escapism, and I'm ultimately fine with the knowledge that it's just fantasy.

I liked the discussion between Strong and the writer about whether Succession is drama or comedy. The writer seems to conclude it's a comedy; Strong certainly seems to really think it's a deep, dark drama. I'd call it a drama with many moments of dark and/or sarcastic comedy.

What I wouldn't read too much into is the timing of the article. I really don't think it was a coincidence at all -- with the Season 3 finale coming this Sunday, the timing made perfect sense to me.

I probably will not have seen 5% of the dramas before the nominating period has ended -- I mean, how could I? There are a bazillion series out there -- but I can't imagine anybody will have deserved this year's Emmy in the best drama actor category more than Jeremy Strong.

The problems with the show start after the first 5 episodes.

I might have missed discussion, but is anyone watching Wheel of Time? Just started last night. Finished 3 episodes. Intriguing mix of LOTR and GOT.

Some of the main characters are dumb though. Just ignorant.

Tried to get through the first episode but the special effects were so amateurish it really put me off. Rosamund Pike's acting when casting a spell was hilariously bad.

Nor did I.

What a season. Frankly, I was expecting Succession to not be quite as good because it's tough to keep a great series great. But this was the best one yet. My only criticism is that they only gave us 9 effen episodes!!

I'm glad the season is done - now I can start watching an episode or two every night.

As I said in an earlier post, I felt this was one of the best series ever. From the reactions here, Season 3 is NOT going to make me change my mind.

Started See on apple. A bit slow, but pretty to look at.

21Jumpstreet

Watched Street Gang: How We Got to Sesame Street (HBO). I liked it quite a bit, but I'm a forty something who grew up watching it. Found it fascinating in retrospect the diversity of the cast, the motivations behind the mission and presentation, and how huge of a show that was. There is a fair amount of Jim Henson/Frank Oz/Muppets info, too, which was really cool.

Watching Yellowjackets (SHO) as I'm a big fan of shows/films/books about human nature, why we do what we do, how societies form and fracture, and...soccer! The cast is really good, both the flashback, younger cast and their present day counterparts.

PGsHeroes32

I'm finally watching Ted Lasso.

One season down. I definitely think it's overhyped. But at the same time it is a good show.

More of a solid B imo though.

Almost through the 2nd season of Money Heist.  It's improbable but I love capers like these.

The wife and I are really enjoying Netflix's new adult animation, Inside Job. Feels very much like Rick and Morty. Amoral mad genius who occasionally has a heart of gold paired with a moral simpleton. Instead of general sci-fi parody like Rick and Morty, this show specifically parodies conspiracy theories. The main characters work for the Deep State and are responsible for the all of the world's conspiracies.  Flat earth, fake moon landing, lizard people, it covers them all. They even work in the Avril Lavigne died in 2002 conspiracy in there.

If you like that style of humor definitely worth a watch. It's not as good as Rick and Morty (few things are) but it's good for a few bust out laughs every episode. Plus Christian Slater has a leading role and he's one of my favorites.
