My GF is making us watch normal people. It is painful. Why is this show a hit?

Regarding space force, I thought it was chuckle worthy but considering the cast it's really underwhelming
Retire Terry Rand's jersey!

It seems to get positive reviews from those who are distanced enough from their late teens and 20s to recognize the mistakes made and things left unsaid by Connell and Marianne. Also, it is a quite popular book so it had a built-in audience.

My daughter loves this show and she recommended it to us. We watched the first couple of episodes and, for whatever reason, it didn't resonate. But then at least a half-dozen of my friends said we had to give it another shot and I'm glad we did. We chuckle through every episode and, as you say, we have at least 1-2 big laughs every time.

We had a similar experience - it was recommended to us, we finally gave it a try, and were initially underwhelmed. I'm glad we stuck with it though, because it's very well done and Catherine O'Hara is totally hilarious with her "accent."

Code, I felt just the opposite. I really enjoyed the first 3 seasons. I thought it went downhill from there. I watched Season 4 and then quit a couple episodes into Season 5.

If you were looking for chuckles, I could see that. It's been a while since I watched it so my timeline might be a bit off, but that is probably when they started focusing more on character development and less on the jokes. I think, taken as a whole, it's a nice story about growth and family with some humor mixed in.

Interesting. Maybe I need to watch it from a different perspective

Dave Chapelle's new stand-up - 8:46

I like Chapelle even though I don't think he is this generation's Pryor or Carlin.

I don't even know that I would call this "stand-up", but everybody needs to see this!! This half hour does stand up to the work that Pryor and Carlin did. Don't miss it.

See I'd be interested in your view on it given your time living and attending university in Ireland.  Obviously that's a side stage for the main themes, but still would find it interesting.

I watched it, enjoyed it. I think it's biggest strength is how real it was. It was very uncomfortable at times and really hits some of the unspoken relationship struggles and dynamics. And the sexual scenes rightly got much press and rave reviews for the realness. Didn't shy away from the awkward moments and tensions in favor of the commonly portrayed sexual experiences that have no grounding in real life.

Also interesting that while the actor who plays Connell is throughly Irish, down to his Gaelic football background, Marianne is from London

Rewatching Chuck, cause why not?

Brilliant show, one of my all-time faves.

Just finished When They See Us. Very well done, but hard to watch at times.

Started Clone Wars on Disney+. Still on Season 1, it's...fine, but I'm not blown away like I was expecting. Maybe I need to get to Rebels, but it is just okay.

I like Clone Wars more than Rebels. Season 1 is ok, but it gets a lot better. In my opinion, it makes the Prequels a lot more interesting.

I'd echo this. It can be slow at times in the first couple of seasons but five, six, and final season were all enjoyable to me.

Finished the first season of "Never Have I Ever" on Netflix. First thoughts at the beginning were the few cultural similarities to "Bend it like Beckham"...enjoyed it.

Finished final season of "Homeland" a few weeks back. I was pleases overall with the Final Season.

This was an interesting piece in Psychology Today about "Never Have I Ever"

My wife has been 4 times... and she is making pizza and watching it tonight.  I'm probably going to have to close some doors for the sing along.
