Plus possibly a B12 and/or a Gavitt game.

If we can pine for squeezing in Mane after the embarrassment of riches that is the OSA/Justin/Dawson trifecta...

Can a bro ask for a LOUISVILLE home&home?
Zenyatta has a lot....a lot... of ground to make up. She gets there from here she'd be a super horse......what's this.....Zenyatta hooked to the grandstand side....Zenyatta flying on the outside....this....is...un-belieeeeeevable!...looked impossible at the top of the stretch...

So, by that point, we will have:

20 conference games
3 exempt tournament games
2 Gavitt/B12 challenge games
Wisconsin
Notre Dame

That's at least 27 competitive games.  Leaves very little room for the cupcake additions (and for error).

I'm actually of the opinion that more major conference teams on the schedule means MORE room for error.  If we lose to ND or Bucky, so what? We have lots more chances for big wins.

Unless something else changes from status quo/expectation, this means 2022-23 home games against:
Notre Dame
Wisconsin
Connecticut
Villanova
Georgetown
Xavier
Butler
Creighton
Seton Hall
St. John's
Providence
DePaul

That's 11 quality home games, plus DePaul.

This is great news but missed opportunity to split up the Wisconsin and Notre Dame games. 2023-24 is going to be a weak home non conference schedule.

I'm not raining on this parade at all, believe me, this is a good game on the schedule..I 100% get why this game is so important to those of you that went to Marquette. However, if I am looking at it from a pure quality basketball opponent perspective, I personally would rather have a home and home with one of the bluebloods like Kentucky, or UNC or Kansas. Nothing at all wrong with this game from a sentimental/rivalry perspective, but from a basketball perspective, they are a good, not great opponent. Kind of like Kansas State,  UW or UCLA or one of those that MU has played(or will play) recently. Certainly helps, without question but doesn't blow you out of the water when you see them on the schedule.

I hadn't clicked on this thread because I thought OP was just beyotchin' the way ND pulled one out last night against Toledo -- I was p-o-ed about that myself!

Then I finally clicked on it to get this wonderful news.

Like most of y'all, I have been clamoring to see this rivalry renewed for years. Thrilled that it's gonna happen.

Hopefully the home game will be on a day (or night) I can make it to Milwaukee. If not, I'll be setting up a fun Charlotte watching party!

You know what? I'd also like to see the administration stop turning down those constant ACC overtures. I mean, when they offered to fund the building of a football stadium at the formerly proposed fieldhouse location if we'd join up it just came off as soooo desperate.

Sorry, you lost me on that. We played No Dick for years and getting them again is great. Forget all those other guys. They wont play home and home. And eve better, we get the first game at home. No Dick rarely ever agrees to that because of their BS ego.

Is there some reason I don't get the ND hate?

Is it a generational thing? Or perhaps there's a cut-off of when you attended MU that leads you to hating ND?

And we'll get to tell them in person in 2022.

@BenSteeleMJS

The Marquette-Notre Dame basketball rivalry is being renewed:
#mubb will host the Fighting Irish @FiservForum in the 2022-23 season.
The Golden Eagles will play at South Bend in the 2023-24 season.

Wojo sure has added some big time programs to the schedule of late.  Nice job all..I have no doubt our AD had a lot to do with this due to his connections.

I'd say for some because they didn't get in to ND.  For others, once they got to MU they learned from others that didn't get into ND to hate them.  Add in the snobbish ND alum thing, Digger Phelps anti-MU student condemnation and that should encompass most of the displeasure here.

It's nice to the see the universities work to keep/renew rivalries.

20 game schedules for B10 and BE could easily have ended rivalry games

ND was our big rival when a good number of us went to Marquette. Period.

There was nothing better than beating ND, at least not in the regular season.

For us, it was Duke-UNC.
