If Golden Eagles Alumni win The TBT should the Banner be hung up at the bowling alley in The Union Annex next to the NCAA and NIT banners.?

I'd propose the practice gym at the Al. Granted no one really sees that.

Badgerhater

When we stop talking, really bad stuff happens.

TheTulsaWarrior

There needs to be some recognition in the Al as well.  Let's hope this discussion will continues on Wednesday morning. ;-)

mu_hilltopper

Absolutely.  Right next to the Arby's banner.

warriorchick

The correct answer is "Wherever the members of the team want it to be hung".

Have some patience, FFS.

Galway Eagle

Yeah certainly should put it somewhere around the basketball program. Having more stuff for recruits to see is always good

I'd really like to see an on campus celebration hosted by Marquette, since they have done their training and practice here.

Actually, it should hang at the WinTrust....Marquette's home way from home, but we have to win it first.

ZiggysChestHair

No - I'm actually waiting for the NCAA to figure out some sort of violation with this tournament and attempt to regulate it.  Seems like they could easily identify some sort of violation.  Hanging the banner on campus seems like hubris that would only help the NCAA ruin this tournament.

In your mind what's the violation? The players aren't playing, and pro teams use school facilities all the time for training. The only situation where there might be one is in the scrimmage against the TBT team.

No specific violation in mind, but I could see the NCAA thinking that these TBT teams do have an affiliation with the school and these teams could be used as a recruiting tool.  Some sort of "come play for our school and after you can play on this team when you are not playing in Europe."  Also, if this league starts growing and making money, I assume the NCAA will think they merit a piece.  So nothing specific other than I think the NCAA is broken and somewhat corrupt and will do their piece to ruin a good thing.

Unless you know someone with access and head there after a long night at Hag's

Or just run a car through the front doors to get in.

I see where you're coming from but the NCAA is smarter than that. That'd get challenged in court in the blink of an eye. The NCAA doesn't have any baring over the squad after they're out of school. Allowing them to have jurisdiction over a professional tournament would set a dangerous precedent for other pro leagues.

That would be cool, good idea.
You know the difference between a dentist and a sadist, don't you? Newer magazines.

In the NCAA'S mind, not being able to get a cut of the revenue....

I agree with this:

Really shows well for recruits and would be cool for future teams to see past players' identification with the program.

Bad_Reporter

Why not in the Fiserv?  It's going on 7 years since MU has reached the round of 32.

In your mind what's the violation?

1) Use of the player's likeliness without NCAA approval.
2) Sanctioning of alcohol consumption (Travis Diener said he's training with Miller Lite).
3) Not turning the TBT revenue over to the NCAA and its member institutions.
4) Implied affiliation with NCAA member institutions.
5) Not consulting with and seeking approval from the NCAA and its member institutions before participating in TBT.
6) Using paid athletes for TBT competition in direct violation of NCAA and Member Institution Rules.
7) Lack of effective institutional control over the TBT by the NCAA and its member institutions.

Skatastrophy

Maybe hang the banner in the bowling alley of the Annex?

buckchuckler

Don't people still get worked up over the Great Alaska banner?

They can also hang banners for Wade's championship teams.

And Doc Rivers.

And McIlvaine's contract.
