Sorry for Greg to hear the news -- especially since it looks like he'll miss out playing with the team in Spain and France. But I'm sure he'll be 100% dedicated to his rehab and hopefully read for the start of the season.

Get well soon, Greg.  Sounds like he should just be ready to go for the start of the season, barring any set-backs.

Bet that means the Symir redshirt doesn't happen.

If greg is ready before practice even starts its really immaterial to a longterm plan. When they actualky are already adding two other guards to last years lineup in koby n akanno

I think it is a bigger deal to skill and strength development.

Immaterial to the long-term plan maybe.  However he will be out of summer workouts and who knows what kind of basketball shape he will be in come November.

I feel for this young man. A very hard worker who was all ready to bust out .

Hopefully he comes through rehab protocol with flying colors.

This is why Torrence must play.    Greg has had three injuries now.  Every year we say oy my God we are so deep, how is everyone going to play?  Then come January we only have 9-10 bodies.  Play Symir!

Hate to say it, but this is also a decent reason why you should use the 13th scholarship on a grad transfer(obviously none left really). Injuries, you can't predict them. But you also can't assume you won't have any.

Perhaps.  But the 13th being available for a mid-year transfer does make some sense.   No argument is we're talking about the 12th.

Damn.   Dexter, Symir, do you hear that?   That is opportunity knocking.

Rooting for Greg to come back even more determined and in great shape. I'm sure the medical staff won't let him return until he's 100%.

And, of course, glad we have depth at the position.

Great point. This is why you need depth. Injuries are going to happen. A deeper roster means greater flexibility to adjust when they do.

Feel bad for GE. I was never wild about him as a player but he really seems like a good kid and a solid teammate. Rooting for him to get healthy and bounce back.

Not Wojo's fault. Also feel bad for the kid. It is another tough break.

I think the real issue is some on this board assume this young man is going to be the savor of this team based on little or no factual information. Assumptions are made to fulfill some unrealistic expectation that makes them feel good. I shutter to think what they are going to say if and when this fantasy does not come true. All I ask is that you do not blame GE.

GE was ranked 224 nationally coming out of HS. He was a 3 star recruit and ranked 49th as a shooting guard. I wish him the best but to thing he is somehow going to morph into a team saving point guard is an unrealistic expectation. If he does I will be a very, very happy camper but if he does not do not blame him for your unfounded expectations

His injury last year became one of the excuses for why we folded down the stretch.  His impending return was one of the reasons we would be really, really good this coming season, despite losing other, higher impact players.

I hope GE comes back stronger than ever and is ready for the beginning of the season.  But having watched him as a freshman, I think being a decent role player is probably his ceiling.
