Ah, the badger board idiots and their ability to get all lathered up with the nonsense of “silent verbals” from their lead idiot (ETR) and cheerleader media (potrykas, oates, lucas).  And I struggle to actually call Oates real media.

Like Charlie Brown trying to kick the football each time Lucy pulls it away.

How long do we have to wait until we hear about the Jalen Johnson “silent verbal?”

Silent verbals are the best. Cause it allows them to champion their desirableness and their program’s recruiting chops, but then also trash and lay all the blame on a 17 year old kid when they end up elsewhere. UW couldn’t have done anything else, they crushed it, hence why they got a silent verbal. Thus it has to be money, academics, or terrible parents

Yup, insiders like Mark Whalen love that stuff.

Knit picking here, but UVA has 10 fewer NCAA appearances and the same number of FF and titles as us. TB has done great there but they aren't a blue blood.

How are they in the last 10 years? Kids don’t care about 20+ years ago anymore. “I’m going to UCLA because they were dominant when my grandpa was in college” isn’t something kids are saying these days.

UConn is closer to blue blood status than MU, IU, UCLA are right now and they’re in disarray as a program.

UConn will be fascinating to watch from afar.  As much as any school, their identity was tied to the Big East.  I know they won a title in ‘14 as a member of the AAC but as far as unlikely title winners, that squad is way up there.  It could be a good league but there is a lot of garbage there.

They could also have been a product of their coach as well.  Ollie won a title after Calhoun but that held little cache in recruiting.

Silent verbals do happen. Players commit but for one reason or another want to delay the announcement. Many recruits want to at least inform the other coaches recruiting them before going public.

That being said, when "insiders" start claiming on public forums that players have given a silent verbal, I'd guess it's bullshiit 95%+ of the time. Any insider that posts that kind of information on a public forum would not be an insider much longer.

Delusional.

Maybe before Kevin Ollie was fired for "just cause".  Ollie had a one year NCAA ban for low academic progress and then was let go for recruiting violations.  Couldn't have kept things going without either type of misdeed.  Last year they lost their best recruit to Georgetown.  How'd Wojo get Samir away from them?  They have dropped a long way from their recent Natty.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

And most silent verbals stay silent. Except on buckyville where they use mythical silent verbals to convince themselves every player they want is going to Bucky and then trash them when they don’t.

Yep. The only way they are “closer“ is in time, as they were considered a blue blood much more recently than we were. But in terms of their ability to recruit blue chip stars, we are better-positioned than UConn is right now.

New coach Hurley  is doing a good job for U Conn. Last year was his first season. Has some momentum on the recruiting trail now. Signed a solid 2019 class including one guy, Jalen Gaffney, MU was keen on.

What makes a “blue blood?” 4 titles in the last 20 years? 5 final fours in the last 20 years? If so then they are closer than MU, IU and UCLA right now. Blue blood is a fickle term, thanks for making my point.

And blame Calhoun, not Ollie, for the APR issue.

thebadge on message boards, formerly Mark from Fitchburg on Madison radio sports shows and if what someone posted is true, a former president of the Wisconsin basketball boosters.  I think EricTheRed is a current of former treasurer for that club.

There have been some funny names for race-horses over the years. One of the best was a quarter horse named HOOF HEARTED. Horse owners love to mess with track announcers.  ;D
Zenyatta has a lot....a lot... of ground to make up. She gets there from here she’d be a super horse......what’s this.....Zenyatta hooked to the grandstand side....Zenyatta flying on the outside....this....is...un-belieeeeeevable!...looked impossible at the top of the stretch...

Thanks Herman.  You've shared more than I would have been able.
Everyone locally seems to be super happy with Hurley.  Record was the same, but the eye test showed the team playing significantly better.
