So next game is the most important, but we're already looking forward to next April?  Interesting considering the source.  Lets focus on off-season strength and conditioning first hey?

Let the TEAM focus on off-season strength and conditioning. I'm gonna focus on Atlanta, baby!

You focus on whatever you want, I just thought it was humorous that a poster who's shtick all year has been "next game is the most important", wouldn't shut up about it, even when multiple people asked him to, and got into numerous arguments about it, is now looking ahead to a game 300+ days away.  I can't be the only one that see's the irony in this.

Someone's triggered.

Please let me know against who, when, and where our first game of the 2019-2020 season is.  Thank you.

I'm not at all triggered.  I didn't once get into it with you when you were saying it during the season.  I had no problem scrolling past it the same way I do whenever 4ever bangs on a keyboard a couple of times then hits post, or when Keefe throws up some poetry.  I just thought it was extremely ironic, and funny.  You were so consistent with it all year, to the point where if I had to bet, I would have thought that the next thread you would start would be about how we can't overlook our exhibition or secret scrimmage game.   I try very hard not to attempt to police people around here, so you just keep doing you, it was just too good of an opportunity to pass up.

Let me know the secret scrimmage opponent and when it's coming up, or the exhibition game opponent and when it is, or game 1's opponent and where it's at.  I'm all in.

Let's get it.  1-0 every day.

See, there you go, that's the Wades that I know.  The title and OP were just so far from your MO.  Imagine the responses here if JB started thread about the importance of FTs (no matta BTW).  You just threw me for a loop, that's all.

I am not even thinking about FF unless we add a impact transfer big.  Basically, other than adding PG's, both who are unproven at major conference level - we have the SAME roster.   A roster who over achieved last year and did not pass the eye test in my opinion as a contender, let alone a second weekend team.  Thoughts?

So we have the same roster that we had when we went 24-10 and add 2 players at the position we had the least depth?  Yup, I'd say that's accurate.

Everyone a year older.  Sam and Joey a year farther from surgery.  Depth everywhere.  Improved.

Overachieved? Seriously? You expected less than 24-10 and 12-6? We had a very good season overall - and arguably overachieved in stretches during December and February - but overall we ended up pretty much where most people expected us.

Like SI, which had us at #31 overall and 2nd in the BE preseason: https://www.si.com/college-basketball/2018/10/31/college-hoops-rankings-every-team-kansas-duke-kentucky

Or AP - preseason, they had us as the second team in "also receiving votes" (effectively, #27), and we finished as the first team in "also receiving votes" (effectively #26): https://collegebasketball.ap.org/poll/2019/1

And of course, the BE coaches picked us to finish second in their preseason conference poll: https://www.bigeast.com/news/2018/10/25/mens-basketball-villanova-picked-first-in-preseason-poll-coaches-again.aspx

I'd say we finished worse than we hoped in mid-February, but pretty much exactly where impartial observers expected us to finish.

And FWIW...many of those same impartial observers are picking us anywhere from #2 to about #7 for next year....

Great analysis.

Almost definitely not what he meant, but technically we probably did over-achieve in the 2018 portion of the 18-19 season (relative to the results of the whole season). By the end of December we already had three rock solid top-15 wins, and our two losses at that time looked better than they wound up.

Splitting hairs, I know.

Considering the OP, I figured our most important matter was next Fall's closed scrimmage.

Let me know when that is and against who.

I just now looked at the Marriott site and they aren't booking quite that far in advance. Maybe next week.

I have less than a 4-hour ride to Atlanta, and I plan on holding a hotel room just in case!

Feel pretty confident with 2/3 answers:

Who: TBD
When: November 5
Where: Fiserv Forum

Or the irony of the season ending meltdown. Hopefully that will be the incentive to finally project upward
Of course  the games must be played with the same team and coach

The people who run Fiserv have had a good year of booking events and were helped by an epic run by the Bucks... MU had perhaps 2/3rds of a good season...
Now go out and truly impress me by getting a second round NCAA tournament games and perhaps a woman's final four!
