Sorry, spent all my money to keep the Hausers from going to Wisconsin.

Nicely done.

Does calipari actually have a chance at getting minutes at another good D1 school?

Allie McGuire could actually play. He scored 777 points (9.1 ppg) and dished 322 assists (3.8 apg) in 85 career games at Marquette. He was even selected by the Knicks in the third round of the 1973 NBA draft -- although he only appeared in 2 games.

Brad Calipari was unranked coming out of high school and walked on at Kentucky. He's scored 11 points (0.4 ppg) and dished 2 assists (0.1 apg) in 27 career games so far.

I don't see much demand at the D1 level. But who knows?

I'm not expecting us to pursue anymore grad transfers. But this is the first one in a while that I actually think meets our needs:

On Paper Yes. In real life no. He is JC 2.0 not quick enough and too slow to compete effectively at Big East Level. Our team this year is athletic, fast and running so he would screw up the flow on the floor. Did not make 1st 2nd or 3rd team All Patriot which should tell you something .

That said It would not surprise me if a number of teams in the conference including MU take a look. He is a good quality kid and someone like Creighton short on size might take him.

Wouldn't expect him to come in and be a starter. Just provide some size and shooting off the bench.

No...I don't want to use a scholarship on just a "guy". If they are going to use the last one this year, use it on someone like Cormac Ryan, who obviously wouldn't be eligible this year, but has some talent.

That would be fine too.  :)

By my count, we are 6 transfers short of setting the record for most D1 transfers in an offseason. I'd imagine we get it done in the next few weeks.

Turns we didn't need weeks. 5 more transfers since yesterday so we are now tied for the record.

Who are the top available conventional transfers on your list?

List is thin this late in the game. I count about 20 that I think are capable of cracking Marquette's roster at some point in their careers still available. The ones I'd actually consider based on talent alone:

1. Quentin Grimes (Kansas)
2. Jaylen Fisher (TCU)
3. Cormac Ryan (Stanford)
4. Donnie Tillman (Utah)
5. Devonaire Doutrive (Arizona)
6. Brandon Mahan (TAMU)
7. Rashad Williams (Cleveland State)
8. Damari Milstead (Grand Canyon)

Is there any indication whatsoever that Marquette has reached out to Grimes?

Directly, no. There was some smoke at first because of an article indicating how he would fit here, followed by Tipton Edits (a popular social media account with recruits) reposting a pic of Grimes with Marquette mentioned, but I haven't actually seen anything from Grimes, Twitter follows, or any reliable reporters indicating MU is involved.

I'd bet it's either Houston or TAMU.

Thanks, ya I saw the tipton thing, but hadn't heard much since.  Always haven't really been paying close attention.

We've done it. Two more names in the transfer portal and if my counts are correct, we now have a new record for most transfers in a single offseason, 894. Should easily break 900 by the start of next season.

Not a grad transfer, but has Cormac Ryan released any sort of list?  I saw MU mentioned with him on twitter a few weeks ago, but nothing really since.

I think the Tweet you're referring to was posted about a week ago by Jon Rothstein. He reported that Ryan is considering Butler, Davidson, Gonzaga, Marquette, Northwestern, Notre Dame, Penn, Texas, Villanova, Virginia and Yale. No news since then.

Creighton signs 6-11 Kelvin Jones grad transfer from Idaho State. The Jays only had two guys bigger than 6-6 so at a minimum Kelvin provides them another large body and 5 fouls.

Jones will be interesting. He had good rebounding numbers for a terrible Idaho State team, but how much of that was being one of only two players in the league that was 6'10" or taller & played regular (12+) minutes per game? Not sure he's a high major guy, despite the interest he received.

Blackshear headed to Florida:

https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/27063041/florida-lands-top-graduate-transfer-blackshear

Nice landing spot for him. The one piece Florida was missing was a big man. With Blackshear in the fold I think they are top 5 team next season. Mike White is probably the only realistic candidate that was available when we hired Wojo that I wish we would have hired instead. Don't remember his name coming up at all but he's been pretty solid at Florida.
