Matt Heldt The Milk Man

I was reading the preseason thing and I saw that Marquette was ranked 7 which was pretty cool, but noticed that they didn't mention the people leaving. Matt leaving is going to leave a huge hole of leadership that Marquette needs to do well, and I think that Ike will have to take Matt's role, otherwise, we wont be a top 25 team at all.

Ike might not ever play a game for marquette

If that happened, I might cry since we all ready lost Matt, my favorite player.

This is a strange post on a lot of levels.

How is this a troll my guy, I am genuinely upset that they don't acknowledge the work that Matt did for Marquette and what he ALREADY meant to the team

Matt's such a likable guy. But c'mon. Without his leadership? You can only lead so much sitting on the bench as a senior. You don't think Markus, Sam, Sacar and Ed can lead as seniors?

Is wrestling real, or fake? I've always wondered.

Is this a joke? Matt not being around has insignificant to zero effect on next seasons outcome

I will say it was a luxury having Matt available as a dependable alternative on the occasions where fouls or injury required some minutes from other than Theo and Ed at the 5. While Matt's role was very limited, I do have some concerns about entering next season without any depth behind Theo and Ed if Ike is not able to fill a limited role.  I truly hope he can, but it is tough to count on that at this point. Without Ike (and possibly with-we haven't seen what he can do), an injury to Theo or Ed would be a huge problem with the current roster, whereas I think we could adjust more readily at other positions. I'm interested to see how the off-season shakes out and whether this situation is addressed at all.

We need better leadership. This team folded down the stretch when the games mattered most.

Tha Hound

We can get solid leadership from the bench from just about anyone. Nothing against the guy, but he never played for a reason, and that's a good thing.

Very well said. Somebody who understands the importance of having Matt. Even thought he may not have been the greatest, he was always someone that could be dependable to go in and help out when needed.

Our leaders wore out.  We need to improve our conditioning program so our players can play the entire season at a high level.  It's become a tradition at Marquette that our key players wear out or are injured during the last month of the season.  IE, Diener, James, Howard.  Other teams, like Michigan State, peak in March, while we fade.

I don't disagree for this year, but connecting it to two people that had broken bones almost a decade+ ago is kind of odd.

Three seasons make it a trend for key players to get injured and or run out of gas.  Hopefully, our training and conditioning programs can address this issue.
