TAMU, Knower of Ball

Having an injured wrist and wilting under pressure are not the same thing.

I do know, Newsie is right on you knowing ball.

Also. Markus was absolutely fouled on the last shot.

If his shot was that severely affected then he was being selfish controlling the ball as much as he did and taking the last shot. Or his shot wasn't affected and he just wilted under the pressure. It's one or the other

Eh, I watched it again and I don' think so. He might have gotten fouled by Reynolds dribbling up the court but I didn't see any contact on the shot.

Now he was absolutely fouled by Powell on a three pointer earlier in the game.

His "selfishly controlling the ball" got him to the line 24 times and fouled out multiple Pirates. Seton Hall keyed in on Sam in the second half and he was rarely open. Anim was gone, Theo was gone, Joey was gone for all but a minute. Who exactly did you want taking these shots?

I went back and watched the last play. Ed tries to set a screen but just gets in the way. Markus had maybe .1 second window to pass it to Sam but #2 for Seton Hall was sitting in the passing lane and it would have been risky.

I didn't think so. I thought it was clean, if anything a slight tap on fingers after the ball was gone. Play on for sure. But I haven't watched 100 replays either, so I can't be sure.

I know the officials are supposed to call it the same all 40 minutes but there's a small chance that call gets made in the first 39 minutes but there was absolutely zero chance of that call happening in that situation.

Unless you're Theo John.

of course unless you're Theo John. That goes without saying. :)

He does seem to get breathing fouls, but he also jumps into guys too much. What I don't understand is why he doesn't average 5 fouls a game. Sitting him the rest of the way does as much good as letting him play 2 more minutes until he fouls out. What is Wojo saving them for? Every game?

CountryRoads

Really sorry if it's been discussed but we had a full TO in the pocket on that last play. Was it a good call to let them play or think we should have called it?

He definitely got hit...but a ref would never call that at the end of a half or game...oh wait...

I was hoping for Wojo to call the TO, but I don't blame him either way for making his choice.

Calling a timeout means you let them setup their D, means we have to inbound ball because no more timeouts left.  We got a good look, can't complain.

again, I didn't think so.

I also thought Theo committed the foul with time still on the clock. I wish they would have understood situation and let it go - many refs would have - but I didn't complain much about it. I honestly thought Matt should have been playing anyway. Or Sacar - why did he have to sit 10 minutes with 2 fouls while Theo plays with 2. Was he being punished? Punish him tomorrow.

Yeah, I mean having your leading scorer and the Big East player of the Year taking your last shot.....dreadful.....

Yup, injured and had a bad game....but he had an open look.  I can't pretend to know if anyone else that was shooting makes it, as much as people like to play that game.

Right. So probably not the guy to take the last shot. Like I said.

His best option to pass to was BB in the corner, who had previously airballed 2 corner threes earlier. Sad part is...this was the best shot.
Assume what I say should be in teal if it doesn't pass the smell test for you.

That's funny. Actually Sam was waving his arms for the ball and had a good look

Who cares?  None of them were going to step up.  The SHU fans behind us would respond "Down Five" when we would chant "We are".  No one in this league respects us because we're soft.

We lose our best individual defender. And our best interior defender/rim protector (and a top rebounder). Plus Markus was pretty severely limited by injury.

And we lost by 2 on the road while SH got to keep their best player on the floor (because he didn't receive the initial flagrant 2 he should have and then a flagrant + tech is not equivalent to 2 techs)

Weird reactions from fans.
It was an historically poorly officiated game. 99% of people on the internet and on TV agree. MU is the better team and will be a higher seed than SHU. Don't let internet idiots confuse you as being fans.

Wojo is growing as a coach.  This will be a great coaching experience,  but very tough to swallow.

Seton Hall did nothing wrong tonight  but their coach was almost apologetic in the post game interview.

Watch it again. It's not just about being open, it's about having a clear pass as well. Ed tries to set a screen but just gets in the way, blocking any pass between Markus and Sam. There maybe was a .1 second window where a pass was possible but #2 for Seton Hall was sitting in the passing lane, would have been risky. Plus, Sam would have gotten the ball with about 1.5 seconds and he was still 5-10 feet behind the 3 pt line.

Interesting. I missed that. Well, if that was the case and the passing lane was there, definitely the shot.

Yeah the problem was it looked like Markus made up his mind as soon as he got the ball that he was shooting it. He took his time getting up court and seemed to have a one track mind
