I think it will be a fairytale ending for Wade, and Marquette at the end of this basketball season.

Unlike many smarter individuals then me,  (TAMU, 82, etc) or more seasoned individuals like (doc, goose, brew, tower, wades, etc) who have seen much more MU basketball then I have, I don't have metrics to provide, or an assload of experience watching special teams back in the McGuire days.

This is just simply a hunch, a feeling that I believe will come true. This year the final four is April 6-8.  The Miami heat have 3 games remaining during that stretch.  (I wonder how that number is significant to us??)

Again, tear into me if you'd like about a dumb post, just happy with the way this team plays, and I think we are in for a very special march/April.

2003 Regionals were at the Metrodome, 2019 Final Four at USBank Stadium.  Minneapolis is the home of Sacar and Theo.  Would only seem logical that our biggest W in 16 years will be there again😉.

Good call!

If someone could queue in the "it's happening" gif?!

Love the optimism.    Still not where I would place my money.

No, I won't.

We made the Final Four in 1974 because we were without a doubt one of best four teams in college basketball.

We won it all in 1977 because we got hotter than hell in the tournament. We were probably one of the best four teams in college basketball then, but our record said otherwise.

We made it in 2003 because DWade put us on his back and Steve Novak burned the nets against Missouri.

I look at Loyola last year, who had less talent than we did, make it to the Final Four despite playing in a very weak conference. Likewise, a few years back a mediocre Butler team (compared to say, Duke, North Carolina or Kentucky) made it. Upsets at the right time and the right place inside the brackets also can help.

You get streaky at the right time and, who knows. This team has shown an ability to beat people, has been disrespected at times and yet finds a way to win. If this continues and Markus and the Hausers stay hot, it's certainly possible. For me to feel more comfortable, I'd like to see more from our bench and modestly more scoring from our bigs.

I hope to heck you are right because if you are, I'm promising I'll be in Minneapolis. Wouldn't miss it for the world!!!!!

Funnier things have happened. Would love to see your prediction being spot on. Love the optimism.

More importantly, Wade's Heat will be playing in Minneapolis against the T-Wolves on Friday, April 5th.  His final home game is April 9th against Jimmy Butler's 76ers.  Would love to see them hug it out for MU the day after the championship game.

I'm not going to get carried away, but if Wade coming to Minny on the eve of the Final Four where he dismantled Kentucky isn't the planets aligning for us I don't know what is.

This team could do it and also lose in first round.  Solid article about both possibilities from last week.

Agree.  All about matchups and a guards game, right?

I wonder what the odds are on MU to the final four right now?

mudeltaforcegurl

I'm cautiously optimistic about a final 4  ;D ;D

frozena pizza

It's a thin line.  People forget how close we were to losing to Holy Cross in 2003 and then went to OT against Mizzou.

muguru

Why could this team get to the Final Four?? Because they are freaking talented enough to, period. Rothstein keeps beating this "SJU has the most talented roster in the BE, and it's not close" drum, and frankly I'm tired of it. The most talented roster in the BE belongs to Marquette University Jon, and anyone else that doesn't pay close enough attention. Want proof?? SJU lost AT HOME to freaking DePaul without Shamorie, MU won AT Georgetown without Markus...enough said.

One game at a time. Keep winning, and maybe we can be excited about winning a BET game for a change. And then we can start thinking about what could be.

These guys have a good chance of making the FF. If not this year, then next. Good time to be fan. Enjoying the ride.

Did this once before: 2003 DWade game against Kentucky and the previous Thursday night against Pitt. Ironically, my sister and I could not get tickets for the games from MU, so we found six from Pitt. Even got a Pitt t-shirt (did not wear, of course).

My sister and her husband, both MU grads, live in the area and I'm sure we'll figure out a way to do it again.

Yep. The good thing with a venue this size is that there are ALWAYS tickets available somewhere, and they can be had at a reasonable price if you are resourceful/persistent enough.

My brother couldn't attend the MU-Pitt game in '03, but drove up from MKE the day of the UK game. He met me at the MU reception. I already had a ticket, so we moved around the crowd to find one for him. Then I walked to the table where the ticket office folks were distributing MU's allotment, and they "found" an extra ticket. Gave it to him gratis...and he had a better seat than I did! It was just lucky that he got it free, but it shows that there are always tickets for big games if you look hard enough.
