Those back-to-back plays were incredibly inconsistently reffed.  We got hammered, no call; they pick up a touch foul.
Lol.

Defense has quit these last few series. Ball game.

GooooMarquette

Poorly officiated, but MU lost this one. All the refs did was widen the margin.

Learn and move on.

Theo just brutal turnover
Markus blocked shot
Sacar two missed free throws
Morrow one free throw
Morrow misses frontend one/one
Markus a brick

That's your last six possessions, nothing to do with the refs.  Not the night.

"Nothing" mmmmmmmmmmmm ok.  Lets break this down.

When a game is unevenly called early it signals to the players two separate rules.  Marquette got called for ticky tack fouls causing them to become more passive on D to prevent foul trouble.  This also makes offense easier for St. Johns as well as the Bonus coming sooner.  St. Johns on the other hand were not being called for reaching and grabbing in the first half,  making offense harder for Marquette and reaching the Bonus later.

This isn't the reason Marquette lost.  There are plenty other reasons.  but to say it had nothing to do with the outcome given what I laid out?  Cmon.

Ponds just stepped out of bounds with about 3 minutes to play. And that was the first TO from SJU in the second half. That kind of defense is a much bigger reason for this loss than the officiating.

Howard is shooting 2 for 15 tonight and has 4 fouls, and multiple posters are complaining about Cain and Bailey. Go Figure.

Uh, read what I said.  In those six possessions.  Read first.

MU down 21 and SJU about to put up 90 on them.  We're the refs responsible for 20 points?  Then we only lose by one.

Howard has been terrible today but while I don't want to speak for everyone complaining about Cain and Bailey, I'm willing to cut a guy who has won this team games singlehandedly some slack. Cain should have shown some improvement after his promising freshman year and he has been an unequivocal disaster. Bailey, meh. He may be good in the future, may not be. This team needs guys who can create offence that aren't Howard, Hauser and Hauser and Cain is a complete and total black hole who can hardly figure out how to move three steps without travelling.

This was a very predictable outcome.

I want this quote to serve as a reminder to the vast majority of scoop posters in regards to the MU BB program.

20? At least. Yes, St John's played well, but the entire tone of the game was changed by the call disparity. When that double technical happened, we should've had 10 more FTs and an extra possession. Our defense was changed completely by our inability to play with the same physicality SJU was afforded. The refs changed how they called the game the last 5 minutes once the result was no longer in doubt, but it was an 18-10 disparity before they played catch-up for a clearly beaten MU team.

Not in those 6 possessions.  Sorry I thought you were referring to the entire game.

And it's a fool errand to determine how many points what were responsible for what.  All I am saying is because of the un-even refereeing standards each team had, made the game of basketball easier for St. Johns.  +6 free throws for St. Johnd when we took 6 more shoots and St. Johns took 3 more 3s.
