It's been a fairly pathetic performance but the difference in the game is the two Ponds hot streaks where he couldn't miss. It makes one appreciate how frustrating it would be to be the fan of an opposing team when Markus is making everything against them. Not much you can do about that.

Oh, and Cain really sucks.

Afroman

Wow. What an absolutely horrendous effort. Very disappointing.

Wojo exposed once again as a coach that can't and won't adjust.

Without markus on all cyls its gonna be super rough.  We are lucky the big east is lookin janky this year

And he's back like clockwork.....totally silent for weeks.....but now back.

GooooMarquette

We have been weak on both ends. Missing our open shots, letting SJU get too many easy looks.

And now we're missing our FTs.

We R Final Four

That's what they do in college basketball. Anytime there is an altercation they T up both players instead of the one who actually deserves it

That's what Pat Driscoll does. I mean, his nickname is Double T.

nyg

Theo just brutal turnover
Markus blocked shot
Sacar two missed free throws
Morrow one free throw
Morrow misses frontend one/one
Markus a brick

That's your last six possessions, nothing to do with the refs.  Not the night.

WinnipegWarrior

Forcing John, Morrow and Anim to make FTs is a winning strategy for any opponent.

JamilJaeJamailJrJuan

Welp. This was a tough one. Refs definitely did us no favors for the first 30 minutes, but still played pretty awful.

Winning on the road in college basketball is hard.

I would take the Rick SLU program right now.

Said it all week this is the worst matchup of the year for us. We'll be fine.

Game has been refereed just fine. Let's stop with the whining. St Johns is the exact type of team that gives us fits. Very athletic and physical.

Home team usually gets benefit of doubt on calls. Athletic teams cause slower teams to be more foul prone.

St Johns is a bad matchup for this MU team despite some ridiculing Chris Mullin as a head coach the last couple of seasons.

Bad matchup? MU always handles them fine at home

No.....it hasn't.
19-14 in fouls. St Johns more athletic and likely to force fouls and on homecourt. It's not been a poorly officiated game and we aren't losing because of it.

The double tech was probably legit b.s. but that's largely it.

This would be correct if the same fouls were called both ways. Light whistle on their end.
Assume what I say should be in teal if it doesn't pass the smell test for you.

The difference in athleticism is painful tonight. When we can shoot, we're able to overcome our athletic deficiencies, but when we're cold, games can get out of hand quickly.

TSmith34, Inc.

Those back-to-back plays were incredibly inconsistently reffed.  We got hammered, no call; they pick up a touch foul.

If this is a down year for the BEast, then we are really hurting.

I think most objective observers would say that the officiating has favored St. John's. That's okay, very few games are truly neutral in terms of officiating. But yes, it's not the reason we are losing. It is a reason. Probably the 4th or 5th most important reason.

You mean some teams do better at home than on the road against certain opponents?  That's incredible

BB has been especially brutal on defense tonight. He's giving up a ton of easy baskets at the rim.

The first 25-30 mins of this game was horribly one sided officiating. It's evened out since then, but the damage was already more than done.

MU also did nothing to counteract the ref show, and that's definitely on them.

I agree. St Johns is a bad matchup for MU. As bad as we will likely face in Big East. We will be okay/make tourney most likely. But. Don't think we will stand much of a chance to get past Round of 32.
