So when do we expect him to resume play. Wisconsin Game? Conference play?

Retire Terry Rand's jersey!

8-12wks from oct 10

If that estimate proves accurate, Wisconsin at the earliest, Xavier at home at the latest.

Totally meaningless observation here.

I was at the IU game and during warmups, Greg was walking around the floor, low fiving guys as they went through their drills.  A Majority of the time he was using his injured hand which was braced up.  I thought that was odd in that he would do everything to protect it, but then I thought maybe things are healing rapidly and the hand slaps were no big deal.

But again, meaningless observation

This is SCOOP! Never diminish the importance of slaps of five!

I watched the weekly MU show on Spectrum and Greg and Jamal were interviewing teammates.  One of them mentioned that they are looking forward to Greg being back for the conference games.  Hopefully we will be back by the end of December.

Did he have a ligament repair?
Once, or twice?

He had surgery over the summer, but I thought they said that when he re-injured it, that it wouldn't require surgery again.  Could be wrong, but that's my recollection.

Its the opposite.  They tried rehab over the summer.  When he hurt it again, he had the surgery.

I stand corrected.

It would be great to have him back by the Southern game at the latest to get him one cupcake under his belt, and have everyone else get used to him in the flow of the game

Here is an article from Marquette Hoops date September 4, 2018. Looks like two surgeries according to this article which was dated before his second surgery.

One year ago, Greg Elliott was a 6'3-1/2" 160 lb. combo guard recruited from Detroit.  Elliot is now a sophomore and has increased his weight to 175 lbs.  He played a career high 34 minutes at Providence last January 3 and the OT win when Markus Howard scored 52 points.  Against Oregon, Greg shot 4 FG in 5 FGAs and went 5-5  from the free throw line to finish with 13 points.

What was most remarkable about Elliott's freshman year is he performed with a detached thumb ligament in his left hand suffered in his second home game at the Bradley Center in November.  The injury required to Elliott to wear a soft wrap/cast and it impacted his dribbling, shooting and everything he did on the court. He had surgery in March to reattach the ligament and has been full strength since early May.

I was able to catch up with Elliott at the Marquette Open House event at the Fiserv Forum last week.

Interesting other articles say he had only one surgery.

Also interesting Greg was a considered a shooting guard in HS while Markus was considered a point guard.

I verified with Marquette because I was also under the assumption that he had previously had surgery, but he had not. He simply had a "procedure" over the summer, not surgery. What that "procedure" was they wouldn't say. But they were adamant on not using the technical term surgery.

MU release on 10/10/18  re Greag clearly stated the the original injury did not necessitate surgery.

Length mattas.

according to #mubb twitter, the original surgery on Elliott's thumb was on March 23.  At that time it was to be revaluated after 4-6 weeks.

Herman Cain

The reality is Greg  re-jammed the same thumb and surgery was necessary to repair it .  Lets hope he has been able to do some conditioning maintenance during the recovery period.
