Looks like he requested a release today. If he leaves, that's a big blow to a team that has some opportunity to improve next year.

Something doesn't smell right to me in MullenWorld. The LoVett situation was odd. This situation is odd. The Sid Wilson decommit was odd. If Shamorie Ponds goes pro....I'm not sure the Red Storm will win a conference game next season. (Except against us of course, Fing Johnnies)

Seems like St. John's always has extensive departures.

Campus is brutal, practice facilities stink and only thing they have is being in BE and some games at the Garden.

Kassoum Yakwe is now also transferring from St. John's, managed to graduate in three years to become a grad transfer. He severely declined after his impressive freshman year but it is still a blow to an already depleted roster.

I made a joke about this on Twitter and a handful of St John's fans seemed to get offended because they have "7 returning scholarship players" and 3 freshmen. That said, they're down to like 4 that have played for them before. Uppity bunch.

Sju has some more pretty impressive traditional transfers becoming eligible next year.

Sat out last year
One a 6'9" forward from south carolina, played on their FF team.  Highly recruited n rated.  May have something to do with Owens? Idk.  3 years remaining.
Other is same situation.  Transfer frim Quinnapiac, MAAC rookie if the year, 6,2" guard avg 17 a game as a frosh, sat out last yr, 3 yrs remaining.

I've read two things about Owens, I don't know if either is true. One, is that he is just exploring, not transferring for sure.  Two, that he wants to play on the perimeter more and that's why he's transferring. I guess being 6-11 185 isn't great for traditional post play in the Big East.

The campus is pretty bad.  I applied there for undergrad and, after visiting, took them off my list. Plus it's a huge commuter school, so not much going on over the weekends.

It's a neighborhood. I would hope your search for nightlife allows you to leave your neighborhood.

Been to SJU many times.  Correct Sju is a bit different than the traditional campus, but  its significantly bigger than MUs campus, at least the not segmented by roads portion.  Additionally yes many are commuters but there is a large core of dorms, and pretty substantial off campus housing with blocks of student houses, duplexes, apartments, across the steet from the dorm cluster, etc.
similar to depaul.
While there are alot of bars, restaurants etc along the campus there is no traditional old wells street atmosphere. Mostly house parties, frat parties, bars,  and many students head to manhattan.  Fake ids virtually unnecessary in NYC.
Seems it wasnt a good fit for jutawmu, which is fine many different strokes for many different folks, but i think the picture if SJU is far bright than painted.  Funny thing is my experience of purdue is of the ugliest campus and worst night life campus i have ever witnessed.  For clarification ive been on all B10 but illinois.

St. John's is a dump. This is a well known fact among anyone who has spent more than a weekend in the NYC metro.
