Even if I am disappointed with who and/or where they are playing, I will ALWAYS cheer for Marquette to win.

Yes, and 98% of the die hard fans on this board will be watching the NIT games.  It is absolutely better than nothing.

When Aaron Hutchins was a freshman (Maybe a sophomore) we made a deep NIT run to the championship and lost a good one. It was good experience and the games were a lot of fun. I think  the NIT run was better for the team than a dusting in the first round of the NCAA would have been.

With the new rules, MU should be rockin' it.  Happy for the boys to keep playing.

Who says they don't get dusted in the NIT first game?

Cause of being pissed off, that's why.

We all respond in different ways.  I see this as a great basketball opportunity, others see it as a way to get pissed off and yell at the team and coach.

Maybe they will, tune in to find out.  Is that your hope?  You seem to want a change and your mind is made up.  Good thing you weren't a Tony Bennett fan at Virginia after 4 years  (No NCAA, No NCAA, NCAA, NIT) as his first four years same as ours.

Just don't respond to him, only a few on this board do.  He's thrown out like 10 posts waiting for someone to comment, most make no sense.

Actually, Tony was my first choice while at WSU.

This thread title makes me really laugh. If this is what we need to feel good about the program, things are in bad, bad shape.

WarriorFan

None of the above matters.  We have a tournament to win.

... and probably 3 more home games!

Right, I've observed enough to opine that this guy is in way over his head.

The title of the thread is that the NIT will have some competitive teams in it this year, due to the fact parity in college basketball has risen over the years.  The title didn't make any notation of the status of MU's program, why things (whatever a thing is) are bad and your opinion is well known based on the endless number of times you have posted your thoughts in many other threads.

Are many MU fans upset over the fact they did not receive a bid to the NCAA, sure.  But as been in the past, posters go simply ballistic, the name calling starts, the bringing up of posts made years ago, the Buzz comparisons, on and on.

The NIT is not the NCAA, but at least the players continue their season and can, as a group continue to play in a tournament atmosphere which will hopefully benefit them in the long run.  I would also hope the fans and the true posters on this board will champion behind these young kids as they play it forward.

It's bad to feel good for one of the youngest teams in the country fighting it out for a NCAA berth into the last week of the season (if we beat Nova we in) and now they extend their season?  That means things are in bad, bad shape?

I'll be cheering my team no matter what tournament they play in.  Of course the preference is for one tournament in particular, but after having been a student in the Dukiet era any post season basket is welcome and to say anything different is just stupid for crying out loud.

Can you imagine this board's reaction if we went #1 seed to NIT? Far worse than now

Not sure I agree. I don't sense thee are a lot of us who are angry at the NCAA for "screwing" us.

I sense there are a lot of us who are angry that we are in a position where the NIT is our best option. That we allowed a couple of games we should have won to get away from us and lost to our conference's Mid-Major and ended up in the NIT is probably why a lot of us are disturbed.

Not in the fire Wojo camp, but his runway is getting short and he better hit V1 soon or.........

Mr. Nielsen

You have Notre Dame, Oklahoma State, USC, Nebraska, St.Mary's, Middle Tenn State just to list starters which many networks thought should have been in the tournament.

So, when--for the first time ever--I fill out an NIT bracket, I can't just assume MU will stroll it's way to the championship?

Obviously, I know I can't...but I do like the idea of being able to go with my heart and pick MU to win it all, and have that not totally clash with my head.

So, I have no idea how I'll pick or do with other games, but MU to the championship. And I'll have them f***ing stomp ND on their march to MSG! Warriors!

No, actually they were a 10 seed and lost 71 - 45 blowout to Florida.   They became a 1 seed in his fifth year, after missing the NCAAs three times in his first four years and earning a NIT bid in year 4.
