Outside of Nova and Xavier being #1 seeds, the committee didn't seem to think the Big East was all that strong if you look at their seeds

I agree with this. Puzzling.

We were just b the edge this year? Now, that made me laugh. We were not in any discussion on getting a bid. In addition, they had more talent last year by a wide margin and got smoked in opening round. Program is light years away from having talent to compete with top 15 teams day in and day out.

Sounds like fun.  I may have been wrong two years ago about this team (horrors), but I did pretty well as the season approached. And after Haanif left, I lowered my expectations and explained why.  Pretty darn close.

Haanif leaving was addition by subtraction.  He did nothing better than Anim, and only would have blocked growth of Cain and Elliott.  Haanif never performed well against high major competition.  It is a convenient excuse to use, to help justify our continued mediocrity, but, it is just that - an excuse.

We're devoid of experienced Tournament talent and a point guard. >

Fixed it for you. At least one of those changes for next season, maybe both.

Seriously?  I want some of what you are smokin.  We did not beat anyone of real significance and had more opportunities to do so than many other teams.  We are what we are....an OK basketball team that is squeaky clean.  The administration has what it wants.

Well, you are completely wrong, and our resume would have gotten in just about any other year.

But besides that I see your point.

Certainly seems so beyond top 2. Beating one of them was the recipe. That X game is the one we needed

I think it's because we all beat up on each other. No one else separated themselves, so dump them in 7/10 and 8/9 games and call it a day.

So, Seton Hall and Providence could be playing true road games in the 2nd round.

We must watch a different sport. I wish I lived in la la land and believed we were on the cusp of being something, but I chose to live in reality.

injuryBug

solution is to protect our home court.  We win 2 more home games and we are in easy those kill the RPI

That is the problem of having 2 really strong teams.  They dominate.  If Oklahoma had stayed as good as they were in the beginning of the year, and finished 15-3 in the B12.  The B12 wouldn't have gotten as many teams in, nor would their other teams be as highly rated.

Same for the SEC if Kentucky/Florida were able to put up a 15-3 type year.

Nothing to do with beating up on each other. BE was very top heavy and next group down were decent, but not really good teams. Everyone benefitted from 4 games against #1 seeds. I actually think the bad teams improved a tad as well.

I'm still stunned the Bonnies got in. I mean seriously...

#24 RPI.  Only once has a team with a better RPI been left out.

The difference is that I'm looking at objective reality on this year and last year.  Record, SOS, road record etc.

I'm not projecting at all to next year, because I don't even know what the roster will look like yet.

Palm had us in today for a reason.

You are reacting based on pure emotion and it is clouding your view of reality.  That's fine, your a passionate fan, but realize it is not objective.

Especially since the next team in had an RPI of 70.

Disagree and agree. Compare us to the Big 10. Four teams in and all were 5-seeds or better because they beat the crap out of a weak league.

The entire league was good and the bottom teams improved, so there were losses to be had. That prevented teams like Hall, Butler, and Creighton from separating themselves. Swap any top-7 Big East team into the Big 10 and they are a 6-seed at worst.

So without MU to root for and no Wisconsin or Notre Dame to root against, is there a reason to watch the tournament at all?

Notre Dame being first team out makes no sense to me. I thought injuries weren't supposed to be considered.

Where did you get that?

I swear I remember a Selection Sunday interview where they mentioned that the Committee does indeed take injuries into account (see Oklahoma when Buddy Hield was injured)

GB Warrior

Let's take a moment to talk about how stupid that selection format was.

I'd much rather them start with a field of "in considerations" (would be a good plug for expanding, which means $$$) and naming the teams NOT in. That being said, I would have needed to watch a format like this in a padded room this year.

But alphabetic was monumentally dumb. Who the hell was their focus group that said this was a good idea?

Cheering for Loyola in between studying my beloved St. Louis Cardinals to see where the pitching is coming from.

Loyola will be in for about 30 seconds, if that.
