I still think we have a shot at the NCAAs, but if we do miss is there any chance of having the NIT games at the Al?

The Western Michigan game in 2005 had a relatively small turnout which might be better suited for a smaller arena. Plus the Creighton game was a pretty good send off for the Bradley Center.

Thoughts?

Its DJOver

I assume it would be at the Al, uwm wouldn't let us take the arena and I don't know any scheduling conflicts with the bucks/concerts/other shows.

No beer at the Al, correct?

MarqKarp

The last 2 times MU hosted a 1st round nit game the attendance was right around 4000.  It would be nonsensical to play anywhere other than the Al.

Bucks play on the road Mon and Wed nights next week, so no conflict.

Dr. Blackheart

Spring Break next week so I am guessing The Al as students won't be around.  Also, while the surface parking lot was just torn up, there should be plenty of spaces with no school.

skianth16

They play NIT games the day after Selection Sunday? Isn't that too early?

16th street structure is a good lot.

That's why the Western Michigan crowd was so small.

That and we sucked.

I think somewhere I saw that the speculation even a week or so ago was that NIT games would be at the AL..and that was part of the reason they kept saying Creighton was the last game at the BC.

I want this quote to serve as a reminder to the vast majority of scoop posters in regards to the MU BB program.

NIT hasn't started on a Monday in years now. Tuesday and Wednesday are first round games.

I appreciate all the mental energy expended here. All things Marquette basketball are fair game on scoop...including hypotheticals that won't come to pass.

I started the thread and I think they get in as well.

Is beer allowed at any NIT game?  I assume not, since it's not allowed at any NCAA game

Yes, it is.

It would be completely up to MU, correct?  Like the NCAA/NIT awards the higher seed the games so long as they're able to host at a reasonable venue?  I'm sure someone at MU has already run the numbers and they have the plan in place.  The BC is available, but cost, expected attendance, maybe even value of surviving and advancing all factors.  Especially on the last bullet, give me a packed Al over an empty BC.  We will get two and likely three home games - while some teams are fairly apathetic when paced in the NIT, I think we're up for playing our way back to New York and should put ourselves in the best position to go for it.

Correct.

4 regions. Seeded 1 thru 8. Auto bids to regular season conference champions, who fail to make the NCAA Tournament.

Just curious, how are host teams going to restripe their home courts in time for the first round games?

At the BC, the Admirals and Wave are gone, so the only scheduling conflict is the Bucks.  The Bucks are out of town all week.  With concessions (beer) sales, and the low rent at the BC, I would prefer a NIT game there if given a choice.
