I find myself debating if the good Rowsey (clutch shooting / getting offense going) outweighs the bad Rowsey (loose ball handling, over penetration, weak defense).

I nearly punched the TV when he left Strus wide open for 3 at the end of game.  Clearly Sacar had the same feelings.....

I believe we all feel the same, but with it makeup and youth this year we would not have had a chance to be in the bubble discussion if we didn't have him.

I can't believe we had him and Howard on the floor for the turnover.

Right now his career only last as long as he can keep winning, so let's just enjoy the show until we are out and then look forward to next year.

My problem with the premise is this.  You can see the same argument about nearly every player on the team and about the team in general.   Sublime, exasperating.  Highly ranked offense, offensive defense.  Which is why this is a bubble team.  So, yes.

Yep.
The good easily outweighs the bad.

Rowsey acknowledged his Strus mistake in the post-game interview.  Took ownership, which is something that makes him better.  He's a competitor with fire.  As much as I scream at times, his attitude can get the team rolling.  Without someone doing that, this team could easily have a losing record.  He seems to get the team moving in the right direction a lot more often than taking them the wrong way.  He'll probably be a great coach one day.

Rowsey has a 16.4 to, while Howard has a 15.1 (Not sure if Howards missed games have an effect) Rowsey has 2 points on his usage then Howard with a 2 point lead in Offensive Rating (which Heldt still leads the country in!) However Rowsey has a 27.9 assist rating compared to the 18.7 of Howard, meaning he passes a loooooooot more and is more prone to turnovers.

Rowsey is #41 lowest turnover rating in the country with those over a 29% usage rating. This list includes post players and forwards who are less likely to make passes and turnovers. He ranges up to #16 when taking into account at least a 20.0 assist rating. When taking into account these filters, Rowsey is #1 on Offensive rating. Beating Trea Young by 4 points.

TL'DR, Rowsey is in the top 10% of point guards.

Why are you bringing all this up? I was responded to you stating, "Rowsey has one of the best turnover rates to usage rates in the country". Markus has a better turnover rate to usage rate.

Sounds like you meant something different.

The good clearly outweighs the bad.

We should be better overall next season because we will be stronger and deeper, but we're still gonna miss AR.

You are right that Howard has a better usage to turnover rate, by about a tenth of a point, but turnover rate is not something you can look at alone. Position matters a ton in that stat. Heldt would be our 2nd best option if all we took was the turnover rate.

Can I hate him for not playing defense?  Just checking.

I was looking strictly at your claim. Which was turnover rate to usage rate. I know better - I didn't come up with that angle.

The whole post wasn't just for you, it was for all the insane Rowsey haters who still haven't gone away. We've had it with Carlino and Reinhardt, but after a while they finally shut up. While the Rowsey ones have stuck around. Which is weird because he's better and fits better then either of them did.

Silkk the Shaka

Need Rowsey swag on full tilt tonight! I'd love to see him drop a 30/10 spot, the crazy thing is he's fully capable against a 1 seed. I want to see no conscience. Ride or die.

As long as you also hate the other MU players who can't play defense.

At this point, you only get to like Sacar, Matt and Jamal.

MUEng92

The good outweighs the bad.  But, I will say the fact that he has shown that he can be not just good, but outstanding makes the mind numbingly bad plays that much more exasperating.

I thought you were dead. Willie lives rent free in Reekers mind. Rick Pitino: "You can either complain or adapt."

He played 39 minutes. The coach definitely feels the good outweighs the bad. I think many of you will be missing AR far more than you thought you would next season.

Marcus92

A few facts:

Rowsey's assist rate (27.9% according to KenPom.com) is far and away a career high. That's third in the Big East behind Kyron Cartwright (38.2%) and Shamorie Ponds (29.7%). Rowsey comes in ahead of point guards such as Quentin Goodin (27.3%), Jalen Brunson (27.1%), Khadeen Carrington (23.9%), Aaron Thompson (21.4%) or Davion Mintz (21.2%).

Rowsey's turnover rate is 16.4% for the season, 15.1% in conference play. Apart from Brunson (11.5%), that compares very favorably with other Big East point guards: Carrington (16.0%), Mintz (17.4%), Cartwright (22.9%), Goodin (23.0%) or Thompson (24.7%).

Rowsey also has a higher usage rate than all of them, ranking in the Top 50 nationally.
