Benny B

Last year a few of us were talking about doing a full-blown mock committee process this year, but that talk died down as the season started... likely having something to do with somebody deciding to get his wife pregnant about 9 months ago.

So I'm just going to go straight to the short-short version; hopefully it will provide some insight to the committee selection process (or not and we'll just have fun with it)... for anyone who would like to participate:

STEP 1 - PRELIMINARY BALLOT

INSTRUCTIONS:

Submit your ballot via PM to Benny B before 11:59p tonight (Mar 6); each ballot must contain two lists:

1. "The Locks" -- The first list consists of teams that you believe should receive an at-large bid, regardless of any pending conference tourney (auto-bid) results, e.g. don't put Michigan on the list, but don't leave Gonzaga off because you think they'll win the auto-bid.  There is no minimum but there is a maximum of 36 teams on this list.

2. "The Bubble" -- The second list consists of all of the teams you believe deserve (or might possibly deserve) additional consideration/discussion depending on the results over the next 6 days.  There is no minimum or maximum number of teams you may put on this list; however, no team may appear on both lists.

I will tabulate results tomorrow morning and provide instructions on the next steps in-thread.
------------------------------------

FYI:

Gold-Warrior balloting rules apply... you may write-in "Marquette" on either list, but those results will be ignored for purposes of this exercise (trying to stay objective here, at least initially)... we'll get to how Marquette fits into this eventually.

Ballots that are just plain dumb or nonsensical will be tossed, unless they are moderately entertaining and/or introduce a new way to mock teams we dislike.

Also, ballots must be submitted via PM only.... do not list your teams in-thread as those results will also be ignored.  Feel free to ask questions in-thread, however.

Finally, I don't have all the time in the world on my hand, so I may cut off the ballots after the first 15-20 received.  I will not disclose names of those who submit ballots, but if you do want to disclose/discuss your ballot in-thread, please wait to do so until after the deadline.... trying to keep this as objective as possible

Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

MU 1 seed!
Im sure it would be really objective.  Unfortunately too invested for muscoop peeps for this type of thing to be worth anything
Political free board, plz leave your clever quips in your clever mind.

The results are irrelevant... the point here is to gain a greater understanding of the process.

I don't need any exercise in this regard.
I already mock the Tourney Committee for being both quick and dirty.

Do we take small conference teams in our locks?

If they are deserving I'd assume. Basically if you think they make the tournament no matter how many bid stealers etc.

I see you adopted some of your rules from how MU's handled write-ins of Warriors when they asked us about the nickname....

You know who you are....  Rank the teams and cross out those from the list that should not be considered.
