Tums Festival

Rowsey hit some big shots tonite n i will forever love the kids stones.  Yet he makes so many errors and turnovers on offense and takes some really poor shots. Alot of those big shots, if we just moved the ball better someone else could make the shots.  I love the kid, but i think we can ultimately do better at the position, unfortunately the answer is not Howard either

Absolutely, putting all the eggs in the "Howard as PG" basket would be foolhardy, especially since he gets injured from time to time.

And thinking Elliott can become a PG will end up as "Cheatham as PG" 2.0.

Rowsey is easily the most entertaining player on this team. Sure, he takes some bad shots and forces things, but you cant deny we play so much better when he's playing well and getting others involved. The heart and fire he plays with will be sorely missed next year. He's always the one to bring us out of large slumps like tonight when GT went on a 21-3 run.

Second, I'm so sick of people acting like Markus Howard is less of a problem than Rowsey. He is the biggest ball hog, shot happy player on this team. I can't stand watching him play hero ball. This team needs either a grad transfer or Greg Ellliott to play PG next year or we're not going far. I love him to death, but he plays a very selfish style of basketball that benefits him, but won't translate into team success. The guy's hashtag on social media is #LeagueME for christ sake.
Could not agree more.

Badshot bad shot oh no what are thinking...oh great shot great shot atta boy rouse , gotta take some bad with all that good
felz Houston ate uncle boozie's hands

He is our leader in star of the game count. We would probably be winless in Big East if he left mid-season like Haanif did.

Rowsey will be missed next year.  Love his tenacity and competitiveness.

10 shots in 36 minutes.

No kidding. Man I don't know what game some people watch sometimes.

But, I'll say this,
Andrew is a very hot and cold player.  He has been both frustrating and explosive.
He has won games for us and he has lost games for us.

Great shooter (can be streaky).
Can be a good passer (not often enough).

Horrible defender (all of the time).
Poor shot selection (too often).
Loose handle (not what we envision a point guard to be).

Agreed.  And you could substitute Markus for Andrew.

Incredibly talented and explosive, but frustrating.

I can understand some frustration, but am baffled by the subject point.

Rowsey has swagger and moxy.  He can drive me crazy with his fouling and his drives to nowhere, but I feel better when he is on the court than not.  We will miss him next year, but everyone is replaceable to a degree.  Count me as someone that appreciates what he did for Marquette in his time here.

I think some of the Rowsey frustration stem from the fact that his errors are so easily identifiable, e.g., hero ball, chucking up a double-teamed three with 20 on the clock, etc., compared to the errors of other players, e.g., missing defensive assignments, not boxing out, etc.

Andrew will be greatly missed next year.  Think some underestimate his value to this team/program.  He's Travis Diener 2.0.

I sometimes wonder if Andrew might claw his way onto an NBA roster.  JJ Barea comes to mind as a comp.  Think Andrew is a little better athlete than people give him credit for - very quick and skilled with the ball.  Elite shooter.  Defensive side of the ball would be the problem of course..

Rowsey is a lightning rod for 99% of the fan base. While he frustrates me at times, often a lot of times, he is an entertaining college ball player. Furthermore, when he is good, he is a really good college ball player. Not sure I will miss him in two weeks, but likely will next season. Have to admit, I like his swagger. There is no doubt in my mind that the swagger comes from the core of his being. Would not be surprised to see him be a big success in his next chapter.

In the NBA, you are who you can guard.    He is 5'10 and not a natural PG.    Other than that, he should be a shoo in for the league.

This will not happen.  He is too small and too thin.

Good Offensive Rowsey will be missed. Defensive and Dribble/Chuck Rowsey not so much. I expect MU to take a step back on offense and a step forward on Defense next year. Whether he is missed depends on which side takes that bigger step.

MU82

I've been wrong before (especially about Buycks), but I don't think Rowsey can play in the NBA. Barea is very quick and is a willing defender, swoops in for steals and battles bigger players. It's just not who AR-30 is. I actually think Markus has a better chance to be a Barea type; at least he occasionally tries to get in somebody's way.

Having said that, I am thrilled that Wojo brought him on board. Contributed a lot to last year's NCAA tourney team, and we would have lost several more games without him this season.

As Goose said, for all of the frustrating things he does (and I think I swear at him a couple times every game - ha!), he is entertaining and tough and willing to take the big shot.

He will be missed.

Thankfully, this season is not over yet! Win a couple at MSG, then win a couple the following weekend!

Gonna miss that SOB. He had some real bonehead plays at times, but the majority of times he was the champion of "horrible shots" that went in.

That shot from the AL logo will definitely define his time at Marquette

Yep, as Rowsey told Bahe in an interview afterward: "It's just what I do."

He could at times drive you nuts, but no other player produced so many fantastic moments. His shortcomings (no pun intended) have been discussed in Scoop ad nauseam but he was still a great asset and will be missed. Maybe my favorite AR moment was after his block vs. GT as he completely deadpanned it as if to say "I do that all the time.

He was a gamer.

Dr. Blackheart

It is worth repeateding yet again to bust down another Scoop myth:  Drewski is the best MU offensive PG since Travis Diener.  Orating, assist rate, turnover rate and eFG%.

He will not be replaced next year but Wojo needs to get close.

Pretty much confirmation that many in our fan base greatly undervalue Andrew. He and Travis are very similar and had similar senior seasons.

Disagree.  We were lucky to have Rowsey and will miss him next year.
