Ike Eke Surgery?

Ike Eke just posted a get well card from the whole team on his Instagram while wearing what looked like hospital robes.  I know he has been dealing with an injury recently.  Can anyone confirm that?s what the surgery was for?

I don't know about the surgery, but he's been having back issues.  I don't believe he's practiced with the team for a couple months.

Ike had his surgery yesterday. My brother taught Ike in high school and told me during the Seton Hall game that he was undergoing surgery on Wednesday.

Glad Ike got the surgery done now. and behind him  Hopefully he has a full recovery.  He has incredible upside if healthy. He is an important part of the team in many  ways so even if his career doesn't have the same trajectory as before he is still a young man that is valuable to the program.

As someone intimately familiar with spine surgery, I can say that there only a handful of situations where there is good prognosis with needing surgery at that age. But, let's hope for the best.

Keep in mind, I have no knowledge of his diagnosis or procedure performed.

Ike has really been walking slow and awkwardly as I?ve watched him pre-game and going to and from the locker room.

Will he need to take a medical redshirt next year?  Might be the best thing for him to do, to bad for such a young kid to go thru.  Hope it will work out, chance
he may never play again?  That would be sad.

I had back issues when I was young. Started when I was about 16. Some days, I had trouble bending over to tie my shoes or combing the very full head of hair I had back then. Classic sciatica - pain shooting down my leg due to protruding disc.

It would get better and then worse again. A couple of doctors prescribed rest followed by physical therapy. There would be some relief and then it would get bad again.

The disc finally herniated and the pain got so bad when I was 24 that I had surgery. I don't know what they do now, but it was pretty invasive then. I had to spend a couple days in the hospital and I was out of work for about 6 weeks.

It was a relief to have it done, not only because I wanted to get well but because it finally was tangible evidence that I actually had a serious injury. Back pain is one of those things co-workers can't see, and some think you're milking it to get out of work.

Once I totally healed, I pretty much resumed my active life - basketball, golf, sex several times per day decade, softball, the whole 9 yards. Every once in awhile I get a little tiredness or slight pain, but it's 30+ years later now ... and what old guy doesn't get back pain sometimes?

Bad hips can lead to back issues too.  Had a buddy, had 2 back surgeries, no improvement.  Had both of his hips replaced around age 35, cured him.

Ike Otule is doable.

True story.  Eating at the IHOP near The Airport Lounge.  Waitress making small talk with us,
"what are you guys up to tonight?"  Us: "just left the Airport Lounge."  Waitress "Oh, I applied there too, but they didn't hire me, so I'm working here now."

Mu 82 - It obviously depends on the severity of the injury as to what you need done, but the discectomy is a procedure that is now a very minimally invasive surgery and sounds like what you had?  I?m potentially getting one myself. There?s also about an 87% full recovery rate (especially when you?re young). Not saying this is what Ike is having, but it wouldn?t surprise me as it?s a pretty common procedure in athletes who have a bulging disc hitting the nerves. Athletes who?ve had it done include:
Tiger, Dwight Howard, Gronk, Andy Murray.

Regardless, wishing Ike the best and a speedy recovery.

RE: surgery, ppl locevto sat ?back surgery? when it deals with the spine... but most are either lumbar or cervical (neck). Would be good to know the level(s) affected. Sounds like lumbar, but would like confirmation.

Re: medical hardship waiver - it?s a non issue unless he misses a second year due to injury and wants to pursue a five year waiver rule. He?s a redshirt this year, plain and simple. The medical component will only come into playnif he?s out inna future year due to circumstances out of his control
