TAMU, Knower of Ball

Was at the game.

Heldt played his best game at MU.

I'm just going to pretend that this is the only thing you said in your post.

Congrats on your first non-whiny post!

I do know, Newsie is right on you knowing ball.

Senior Ish Sanogo came into the game with 1 career 3PM...he left tonights game with 3. When Sanogo is your leading scorer on the night...you know something is wrong.

You could tell the team knew that Sanogo was not a good three point shooter as they really sagged on him when he had the ball behind the 3 point line.  To Sanogo's credit, he took those shots and he made them.

Kind of one of those things.  It was great gameplanning by Wojo to identify that and have whoever was guarding Sanogo not in his face.  But just happened to backfire as Sanogo did what he's not used to doing.

Also, the thread title comes from Darryl Hall's first solo album.    The grossly underrated Three Hearts and the Happy Ending Machine with the epic single 'Dreamtime'.

You are such a nerd.....

Box score.    BTW, for one night, against a big team, there was a fair number of two-big lineups.

Did the term "Happy Ending" have the same double entendre in 1986 that it does now?
Have some patience, FFS.

I honestly don't recall.

Haven't had a chance to read because of travel.

My top 3.

#3. All the big hugs Wojo was able to dish out.

#2. Rowsey's #thething that lifted us when we were down a bit.

#1. Winner hands down was Theo taking out twenty gallons and spraying all their fans.'This is OUR house and go drink from the gdamn bubbler!!'

MU was livin in Dreamtime tonight.
1.   Rowsey's turn tonight.   Markus a little off.   I think we can all stay away from the panic button.  He finished OK.
2.  MU was tougher than SH for 16 minutes.    Then played soft for 7 minutes.    And then rebounded (pardon the pun)
3.  Other than that bad stretch, the defense was solid and down right good at times.
4.   Those freshmen are done being afraid.    Sure, there are going to be nights where nothing goes.   But they will attack.
5.   I don't know what is happening in practice.   In games, Froling is off balance shooting the 3.
6.   But all of the bigs played hard and played physical.
7.  But SH is relentless.   They are top 15 for a reason.   So big, so strong.
8.  I liked Anim pissing off Dezi.  Everybody played with passion.   Everybody contributed.
9.  You could see SH's will break with Howard and Hauser's 3's with 5 to go.
10.   That 'compete, compete, compete' huddle carried over to tonight.
11.   Rebounding?!?!?!?   Holy cow.    Really accepted the challenge to team rebound tonight.  Whole team.
12.  Is this a big enough win?    Do you not see hope?   Can you not see how it is building?  It isn't that MU won, it is HOW MU won.
13.  Celebrate a good win, MU fans.
14.   Because it isn't going to get easier for a while and there will be losses.

15. Some home cooking. Delgado could have had an "and one" on that one play.

MUBigDance

I know this has been hashed out but is #thething thething  if he doesn?t make it? Or is it called something else if he makes it? I know if it?s a two whether he makes or not doesn?t qualify.

What he did was definitely ?a thing? that made me and Angel smile for different reasons

Are you talking about the play in the second half that the announcer was harping on?

Because I agree with him, that absolutely was a foul on MU that should have been called, but it was way before he shot it, shouldn't have been an "and one".

This was fun.
Wojo usually likes the 1-arm-over-the-recipient's-shoulder approach to his bear hugs, but Matt's had to be two-arms-around-the-waist for obvious reasons.

Doubtful unless of course Friendly's restaurant was a living more on the edge than I thought.

it's been a couple years since i've been as jazzed about a win (to be fair, I was international for Villanova last year and had to watch it on a ticker...not exactly the same excitement). Hope this gives us some momentum in the gauntlet we're about to face. Stealing a win at Butler would be huge, who has to be exhausted after their own gauntlet of ranked teams.

I kind of feel the same way you do and I watched the Nova game.  The Nova game was about a MU getting blazing hot after Nova lifted their foot off the gas.

This was about a younger, smaller, quicker team dictating the play almost from the outset.  SHU counter-punched, but we punched right back.  If Marquette is going to be a top 25 team again, this is how they are going to win games.  Fun to watch.

Late to the party.
Was at the game and what a time!
And today I'm so hungover... but worth it!

Rowsey was a real spark in the first half.
Theo and Greg are a real treat as fresh. And Cain has played very solid too!

How about that full court pressure? Slowed SHU down. And that Rowsey steal in pressure. I like it!

I'm a big Wojo fan, have been since we hired him. And I will agree there have been times where I have been frustrated and confused and annoyed with the coaching. But this season has been solid and last night was GREAT coaching. Well done team!

(Ps can anyone fill me in on this Alabama Hug thing people are talking about with jalen hurts?)

Great recap everyone.

My one thought is that SHU got tired in the middle of the halves just because MU is so relentless on offense.

Probably dehydrated too once Theo took out their water supply.

Thought we did a great job of trapping delgado but we were late to help side a few times

Does anyone have a replay date for last night's game?  or a vid/gif of the Theo John vs. Gatorade??? I did catch #TheThing live on TV.... DelGado's reaction was awesome.

Thanks.

Thoughts without seeing the broadcast yet:

1) Unlike some games, this box score matches up with the game flow. We had an average night shooting (for us), but we beat Hall at their own game (rebounding, 2nd chance pts, blocks/defense).

2) Can't wait to watch the recording tonight for the Elliott putback and the Theo ice bucket challenge.

3) Loved the student section ticket package; saw Providence with the family, Gtown with an MU buddy, and Hall with my 6th grader and his friends. Hope they continue that plan in the new digs.

4) I'm normally one for obscure references, Tower, but the solo career of Daryll Hall? Woo boy. I could see if Markus put up another school scoring record maybe going with "Hall and GOATs" or something. As it is, I would have gone with "A Pirate's Strife for Me". But hey, it's your thread, man. You do you.

5) Time to bully the Bulldogs. Hopefully we don't put up a stinkle at Hinkle (Seriously though, Tower. You do you.)

According to the announcer's, Wojo open yesterday's shoot around by displaying the photo of Hurts hugging Tagovailoa, commending Hurts' maturity in acknowledging that his role changed for the second half but that they won the national championship as a team. Supposedly Wojo used it to send a message that everyone has a role, that they need everyone playing for the team.

Sure did look like the players received that message pretty clearly. Markus certainly was as supportive as can be while on the bench in the second half, seeing that the guys on the court were the right guys for that moment.

Personally, considering the end of holiday break for students and the margin of victory, I would've went with "Deck the Hall".
