Theo was the "stud" in this game.

No preference between Sam and Markus. Sam was steady, played solid D, made half his shots, scored 21. Markus didn't shoot as well as usual but he scored 26 despite being roughed up repeatedly; plus, he had to take up the slack after Rowsey left.

I understand those who want to see somebody new winning, and I like the cut of Theo's jib, but the young man played only 14 minutes. It's hard for me to say he had more impact on the outcome than Cain did, let alone Markus or Sam.

I want to go Theo because we need more than 3 names on the SOTG board and this might be our best chance

Marcus had 26 on an "off" night.

Feels like Markus was the pulse of this team.

That said, I remarked to a friend during the game that one of these days, we're going to see Hauser want to take over a game, and he proceeded to knock down 5 quick points to ice it. Just a very even keel performance.

Stretchdeltsig

Sam is so steady and smooth.

Anim

Just getting to this post. I thought it was going to be an easy win for Anim. I can't believe he is not getting votes. He locked down German who was the best player on the floor by a long shot in the first half.  Sacar denied him the ball and took him out of the game in the second half. Huge. This one should have been easy.

I mentioned it another thread, but while watching us play, I think "bad shot" at least 10 times a game.  Howard and Rowsey are so good they make bad shots just enough to keep firing them, but not really at a good percentage.  I don't ever think "bad shot" when Sam shoots.  He plays under control and takes what the defense gives.  Rowsey and Howard are so much fun to watch play offense that you can forget about Sam, but he plays so solidly in all areas he is becoming a favorite of mine.

Sam.

Theo with the 6th man award.

Markus simply had one too many brain cramps on the floor, especially in the final 3 minutes.  One could practically hear Wojo screaming 'Value the basketball!' at him.  Son, you simply do not chuck a modestly contested 3 with 22 seconds on the shot clock when leading by 10 with a minute to go.  He'll be reminded in the film room today.

I agree with all of this. Sam's steady performance and solid defense were a big part of what helped us pull away in the second half. Markus is still not a great PG and doesn't do as well as he should taking care of the ball. It was mentioned above, but he makes enough bad looks that he still takes too many of them. It's a blessing and a curse.

Theo had himself a great game relative to what he's done so far this year. Relative to the other 9 guys on the floor, he's still got some work to do to get himself to the top. His defense is getting better, and he seems to have more court awareness now than a month ago. He's getting better each game. I was saying last night I think he will probably be a Dwight Burke type guy by the time he's a junior - good enough defense, limited mistakes, and enough offensive ability to draw defenders in when guards can get him the ball.

GGGG

Honestly I have no idea why people are choosing Theo.  He had a nice stretch against an undersized team.  Played 14 minutes.

Compare that to Markus or Sam.

The same reason Lebron doesn't win MVP every year. People get bored and vote for something different.

Now if Theo wasn't in foul trouble, put up 13 pts, 10 boards, and 5 blocks in 29 minutes then I'd make a case for him.

CT I didn't see what you saw at all. Most of our threes were wide open and in rhythm, just weren't falling. I can recall one bad shot by Markus but that was about it.

I saw one such shot from Sam where he came off the curl and failed to square himself and missed, but that's it.
As Glow mentioned, that is normally a successful play for us, particularly for Andrew.

Sam had the exact same FG% as Theo and was .125 better in EFG.
