Got an iPhone. Can't post pics from phone. When I hit add attachment it says pics don't have proper file type (jpg, gif, etc).

HELP!

warriorchick

Chili, I know I have been slacking on posting the pictures you sent me. I can do it after I get home from the women's game.
Have some patience, FFS.

I'm trying to figure out why I can't post them. Gotta be a fix.

Thanks for your help yesterday.

I don't think that's it, Rocky.  Screen captures are saved as PNG, but I couldn't post a PNG on Scoop from my iPhone... I could only save it as a PDF and post it.  But if I emailed the PNG to my desktop (same size/resolution) and then posted it, it worked.  Learned this just now:

http://www.muscoop.com/index.php?topic=55034.msg969502#msg969502

I converted the PNG to jpg, and it uploaded here just fine.  But when I simply changed the file name from jpg to jpeg, it wouldn't upload.

So evidently, the server won't let you upload JPEG photos, which is apparently what all of the iPhones not on HEIF are using since iOS 11 release.

Not sure about the PNG from phone thing, though.

Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

I guess someone needs to send me an iPhone X so that I can appropriately debug this...

But yes, it really only filters by extensional (should be jpg, not jpeg) and size (all attachments combined must be less than  5MB)

I've got an iPhone 6s... so not really a new hardware issue.  I used to be able to post pictures to Scoop from my phone, but after iOS 11 update, I cannot.

I have no idea what the difference or distinction is between a jpg and jpeg (always assumed they could be used interchangeably), but is there an admin function that would allow for uploading jpeg files?  Maybe try that to see if it solves the problem.

Looks like pic size is Too big now. Ugh

It saves as a jpeg, which is not an accepted format. Thanks Wocky for trying.

They are interchangeable.  I think I can add the 4 letter .jpeg to the filter, but it's silly that apple just changed this!  Clearly they were ok with the .jpg naming before!

Give me a few minutes to see if I can figure it out.  Should work as long as image size is fine...

OK, JPEG should now be allowed.  What's the MB on a typical JPEG picture of yours (it's a compressed format, so probably not all the same).  If it's not too much bigger than 5MB I can increase the limit to accommodate...

I'm going to have to turn off my phone rotation to look at your pics, hah.
