I don't understand the point of this thread leading up to the Marquette game.

Are posters honoring/celebrating the alumni of the school we're about to face on the court? Boooooo!!!! As far as I'm concerned right now — less than 5 hours before tipoff — Purdue alumni and fans have nothing of value to offer the world. They're worthless and weak and should be put out of their misery. After this game, they should be ashamed to attend such a joke of a university.

I object to this entire line of posting. I strenuously object.

Oh.  Well, if you strenuously object, then we should take some time to reconsider.

Having been a member here since 2012, I'm a bit surprised you are suddenly raising this angst now. It's been going on as long as I've been on the site.

Oh, I know. Suddenly struck me as kind of a strange tradition. It honestly doesn't bug me any more than other innocuous, fluff threads (of which there are many). Trying to work myself up for the game, mostly. Why express anything positive about an opponent just before we play them? That little extra bit of angst/hate might just make the difference.

Alumnus of both schools here.  I seriously hope you are joking about lack of value of Purdue alumni.  It's the best school in Indiana btw.

Also Amelia Earhart is an alumni.  Sorry, didn't post a pic.

I always viewed it as a way to dig up dirt on a school. Porn stars, crooked politicians, dirty athletes etc. yeah some places don’t have anything but good stuff posted but can’t win em all

Yes, I was joking. I'm well aware that Purdue University is a highly prestigious university with numerous accomplished alumni. I have several friends who graduated from West Lafayette. That doesn't help me hate the Boilermakers in advance of tonight's game. I think I've learned my lesson about questioning any of MUScoop's precious traditions. Just don't do it.

Agreed.  Beats the hell out of that sh1t hole to the north.

Kid from my HS is the all time record holder (ya, that's redundant) for tackles at Purdue.

Fun fact for me. Family (great great great great grandpa) was part of the original group that donated land to create Purdue.  We have a street named after us on campus.

On any other night, I root for the Boilers. Tonight, ef 'em!

Real Chili Way, of course.

This is a horrible confession, but I've never had real chili.  I thought about grabbing some before the game tonight but I don't have enough time

Purdue is the easiest school in the state of indiana to get into, even easier than ball state.  Butler, notre dame and indiana are tough to get into, as are some if the smaller liberal arts schools.  Purdues prestige, if there really is any?, is do to there engineering school which is very good but i believe less than 5% of the student population is in the school of engineering.  Most are in the school of education or agriculture etc all if which are mediocre at best.
