Rare is the only way to eat steak. Otherwise, might as well eat a shoe.

No.  I changed jobs 10 years ago and that ended that.
I was actually in discussion to return there last hear with a friend who is now a boss, but another interesting opportunity came up before they could guarantee a more senior engineering position.

I like Medalla also.  I've never seen stateside except occasionally in Publix in Florida.

Too light for me, but is good beer. My brother has a nano brewery and his Blonde Ale is being canned in Wisconsin. Has the Blonde, Pale, an IPA and six seasonals. If you get to come down lmk.

Good articles. Many places don't know how to cook a rare steak. I probably like my steak on the rare side of medium rare.

At Manny's in Mpls they cook a true rare steak. The center is truly cool. I tell them cook it to rare, and count to 18.  It comes out perfect.  Gotta have a white hot fire to for cooking a steak.  Best steak I ever made was cooked over a birch wood fire. Let the fire go for about an hour before cooking. Fabulous.

Marcus is crazy sensitive when it comes to his meat, hey?

I'm at my downtown place today, 2 blocks from Manny's. Was gonna make tacos but a steak (medium) is tempting.

Nonetheless, go Seahawks!!

No medium, bro.  Medium = the dark side.

If I think about it, I can still hear Sid espousing the wonders of the "Silver Butterknife Steak" ... and I haven't heard his radio show in more than 20 years.

As for cooking a steak ...

I like mine a little on the medium side of medium-rare - warm and pink in the middle (insert sex joke here). I am a pretty darn good griller - just made some steaks the other day and everybody was raving about them. They were tender and juicy because we bought very good cuts and I didn't overcook them - just turned each of 'em once. Yum.

If one cooks a steak exactly that way and it tastes like "shoe leather," it probably was a shytty cut of meat and still would have tasted horrible no matter how it was cooked.

Silver Butterknife Steak is Murray's, not Manny's  - but there is considerable debate over which is the best steakhouse in town.  Mine is Manny's - not just for the steak but for the other stuff - the bacon appetizer and the lobster cakes are amazing, and we always top it off with Bailey's cake.  I even had them make a whole Bailey's cake for my birthday once.

I consider Manny's to be the best restaurant to go to in Minneapolis, if someone else is paying.

As pricey as it is, it can be hit or miss.
