Sir Lawrence

Someone made an inquiry earlier about when MUBB would send out a NCAA tournament ticket request offer.  Here's what was sent out today:

The Road To March Madness Starts Now

March is finally here, which means the Madness of the 2017 NCAA Tournament is right around the corner. As an exclusive benefit for your support, all Marquette Men's Basketball season ticket holders and Blue and Gold Fund members may now REQUEST tickets for all NCAA Tournament games that #MUBB may participate in.  Each account is limited to requesting up to four (4) tickets.  (This is for your ticket request of where #MUBB will play in the NCAA Tournament, NOT for the first and second round games being played at the BMO Harris Bradley Center)

Please note that Marquette only receives tickets to tournament sites in which we participate and ticket requests are not guaranteed. Ticket request fulfillment and seat locations will be allocated based on your Blue and Gold Fund priority point level. You will receive a confirmation email after the request deadline for each round. We will confirm whether or not your request could be fulfilled and you will be charged when your allocation is confirmed. There are no cancellations once requests are confirmed.  Tickets must be picked up in person at will call at the tournament site of each round by the season ticket holder or donor of record. For more information, call 414.288.4668 from M-F from 9am - 5pm.

Ticket Request Deadlines
• First Four - Sunday, March 12 at 9pm
• First/Second Round- Monday, March 13 at 5pm
• Regionals- Monday, March 20 at 5pm

Orders for Regionals and the Final Four include tickets to both rounds, regardless of the outcome of the Marquette game.

I inquired as I am not a BLUE/GOLD member or season ticket holder (although I did buy the Experience Season Ticket which does not qualify).

the rep said I could still "get in line"  for tourney tickets on their site. I have an account so you might have to register...no big deal.

They will contact me if availability.

Note: you order tickets by site so there are 8 possible sites to order your First round (plus maybe second round) ticket. They won't charge you if MU is not playing at that site...For Example: you could order only for Indy, Tulsa, and Buffalo thinking you could drive those... So if its Orlando, you aren't charged. If its Indy, you're charged for that but not Tulsa or Buffalo.

Same goes for 4 Regionals and finals.  Only charged if MU plays at that site.

For me I really can only afford an Indy Drive...so I'm going to put in for those. If its true and 3or4 BE teams end up as 10's ...guessing Marquette playing in Mongolia and not Indy.

I'll be doing Indy if they make it there.
I'll probably buy tickets off stubhub and pull the ol move to the MU section style. Or snag a decent ticket from someone walking out after the first game for $10.

This is what I did a couple years back at Rupp Arena. My seats were at the top of the arena, but the Louisville fans dispersed and let the MU fans all sit by each other (closer to the court)

Isn't the annual advice that there are plenty of tickets to buy on the street?

Yes. And then as stated (by someone here on Scoop, I forget who), get in just before the first game ends or so, wait for people to leave the lower bowl that are going home and offer them $10 to swap tickets.

Which works, unless Marquette plays the opening game.

A few years ago I bought tickets outside the United Center.  4th row end zone.

Thought it was odd the first three rows were empty for a majority of the first game.
Then near the end of game one, the Georgia cheerleaders started milling around those seats.
Then finally the Georgia band walks in, complete with tubas, seated directly in front of me in row 3.

What's interesting to me is that you can place your order after the Selection show this Sunday, so you already know where we have been placed. Plus you can order for the Regional games the next week and Final 4 later as we move on.  Or am I reading it wrong?

First time I remember that.  You used to have to commit and place the order for all sites and all rounds before Selection Sunday..

That's correct.  We always put our order in on Monday if we decide we can go. Of course a Dayton slot requires a quicker response.

Dr. Blackheart

I also remember being able to order 8 tickets for the F4 in a dome. Now only 4.

I sure hope that Ticketmaster isn't putting a $9,110.00 hold on my Visa pending site announcement.  Would have maxed it out for another $130, but I only put in for two in Dayton (I'm not subjecting the kids to that.... plus, I'm pretty sure DCFS would take the kids for a few weeks if they found out I took them to Dayton, midweek or otherwise; regardless, I don't want take any chance with them getting ideas and asking for a Cavalier when they turn 16).

Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

Getting placed in Indy would likely mean playing either Louisville or Kentucky in the second round.

Don't rule out Purdue for that Indy spot

Anyone know if it's true that host site teams don't play on the days they host?  Seems difficult to accommodate.   If so that narrows it down to 4 sites.

It's a guideline, but not a hard and fast rule. Most likely we play Friday, but not unthinkable for it to be Thursday.

That's unfortunate, I am stuck in Orlando for a conference I can't get out of and was hoping for some very good luck.

Does anyone know if university donors who do not give to B&G get priority to buy tickets?

Yes, but you don't get as many poiints for non- B&G donations.
Have some patience, FFS.

IIRC, non-B&G donations are awarded half the points as a B&G donation, e.g. if $500 to B&G gets you 2 pts., $500 to other MU funds gets you 1 pt.

Current year:
B&G = 1 pt/$100
Other = 1pt/$250

Past Years:
B&G = 1 pt/$250
Other = 1pt/$500

I'm not sure (not clear) if giving requires "past years" to be consecutive, but I do know you get extra points for consecutive years of giving.
