TAMU, Knower of Ball

I hope I don't have to say this....but when the seniors get their names called....no matter how you feel about them....stand up and clap. And for heaven's sake, don't boo. I still remember hearing some boos for Derrick and Juan when it was their night. Don't know that I've ever been more angry at a sporting event. Even if these kids didn't meet whatever expectations you had for them, they are good kids who put in literal blood, sweat, and tears just so a bunch of us losers can enjoy a basketball game. Tomorrow night they deserve nothing but our respect and gratitude. Don't worry, you can still come here and vent if the game doesn't go how we want.

Ring Out Ahoya.

The Senior Day Fan Protocol Police--I knew it was coming.

Dude. It's not protocol police it's a request that people don't act like jerks. These guys gave up any semblance of classic college social life to play in one of the most high pressure colleges, stuck through a coaching change because they love the school and have dealt with the more criticism than any of us at that age. It's easy to not boo, did you forget the old "if you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything" adage? Cura personalis indeed Jesus
Retire Terry Rand's jersey!

Dr. Blackheart

I don't remember boos for those guys.  What I remember was a five minute ceremony about an hour before the game with no one in the stands.

Mr. Sand-Knit

My guess is it was a few drunk n stupid students that were ftustrated with the season.  Cant imagine any adults doing that.  Hopegully the cheers made the boos inaudible.  Agree that while some of these players may not be the greatest or of the talent level that we had hoped, by all accounts and purposes they are great kids n represent the university well.

WTF are you talking about? Dude.
Did I forget what? Get off your high horse.
Someone comes on here every year and bitches that people left early or the cheers weren't that strong.
I for one don't need to be told how to act--but good job advancing the agenda it's a noble cause after all.

I seemed to have stuck a nerve. My apologies. I don't really care if people stay/go or how loud they cheer. Mostly bothered by the booing. I personally don't think there's ever a situation where it is appropriate to boo a senior on senior night. Others might feel differently. Trying to make an argument as why those should change their minds.

My philosophy is to never boo any kids ever, they are always trying hard. The only people deserving of boos , scorn animus and enmity are the coaches. I am pro player and anti coach in general, until the coach is proven competent.

Part of being a fan is supporting these guys regardless of what is going on.  Despite any frustrations it's not difficult to take a step back and have some perspective.  Always going to support MU and our teams regardless of the team, coach, play, etc.  As much as I love the team it's not something that directly affects my life.  If we play well and make me happy it's just a plus :)

#UnleashSean

I cheered on Derrick and Juans senior night. Mostly because I was glad I'd never have to watch them play in person again, but I still clapped.

I don't like the booing of coaches because if you are booing the coaches for the team's poor play, it sounds the same as booing the players.

The only people I think actually get paid to be booed are the officials. When they screw up (*cough* Xavier *cough) I think it's fair to let them have it.

Eye

I've booed Higgins, Burr and Driscoll every time I've seen them officiate an MU game in person. I've never booed anybody else at any MU game I've ever been at.

Never booed anybody ever. Bush league. If there are Creighton fans who boo LF--not much I can do about it.

Have some patience, FFS.

Almost as predictable as people that come on here every year to fake outrage over "being told what to do."

I thought it was a friendly reminder. I thought your response was a bit high horsey and angry. You turn into Bo Ryan when you're angry, Eat a snickers.

I'd just like to interject that I think Senior Day is one of the best things about college basketball.

I'd like to say thank you to all the seniors. JJJ, Luke, Katin thanks for all the hard work you have put in throughout all these years. These players helped MU go in the right direction this year. All of you will always be in the Marquette family. Thank you seniors. Now let's get this DUB

GoldenDieners32

Also are they doing all the senior stuff before the game or after??
