With just over 4 minutes to go, JJJ took the ball at the top of the key with more than 20 seconds on the shot clock. MU needed a strong possession and a good shot, having taken time off the clock. I said to myself when he received the ball and stood up, "he better not drive now, not this early.

He did. He lost the ball.

Again speaking to myself, I said, "If MU loses, that will be the turning point."

I believe it was.

Bad, bad play.

You shouldnt start taking the air out of the ball with over 4 minutes left. Thats just asking for trouble. Better a drive than throwing up an early contested 3.

I'm foggy on that on. I remember the 18 foot jump shot and lay-up he missed late.

After Hauser missed a wide open three, which would have put the Warriors up by 7 with 2:00-ish to play, I turned to missus and said, "game over."

I truly hate being right.

Marquette lost for the following reasons;

1) terrible defense in first half
2) truly awful shot selections leading to missed and easy baskets for providence
3) terrible defense in the lane.  Providence had a number of drives where mu could have made a play.  Instead defended with hands and fouled.
4) missing good shots at end.

I don't mean to imply that; rather, I think working the ball around the perimeter, looking for either a seam or an open shot was much better than JJJ's head down drive through traffic.

Not cool wen Markus got scared by his own shadow and lost his dribble just over half court, hey?

Yep, that 3 would have ended PC's comeback.  Wide-open, stepping into it...

Agreed, I thought if he made that, that was the dagger right there.

I want this quote to serve as a reminder to the vast majority of scoop posters in regards to the MU BB program.

Mr. Sand-Knit

Markus had one in and out also.  Yes we took the air out but for the most part got good shot after good shot.  They just missed every single one.  Defense was ok, the rebounding was non existant

I thought this sequence was the biggest play that really swung momentum..

(1) Katin missed a contested jumper/runner, (2) Katin exaggerated the no-call all the way to the floor, (3) Katin takes his time getting up, (4) Bullock is the trailer on the play and still hits a wide-open 3 because Katin is still trotting up the floor.

Think that cut it from 7 to 4 with 3 minutes left.

The shot itself wasn't terrible. It was a contested look late in the clock. But being slow getting back gave them a wide-open three, which is unacceptable in a game like that.

We R Final Four

Play of the game for me was Sam's missed 3.

The Dunk was rocking during the comeback and 12k were all on their feet for the last 3 min.  Like the old BC capacity crowds.

We lost this IMO by milking the clock too soon.  With all the stoppages in play due to the condensation on the floor, the game really extended.  Wojo used TOS well but our O really failed us.
