I highly doubt they take 7 BE teams.

We ain't getting the nod over Providence if we lost both to them.

Hall is looking great barring completely unraveling.

Really gotta play our best game Saturday.

You couldn't post this in one of the other gazillion threads where folks are discussing the importance of winning on Saturday?

Get a grip, people.

No it hasn't. And X could still play their way out, honestly.

Win 2 of 3 and we're safe. That hasn't changed.

PC could easily lose at SJU, as well.

You gonna survive?

This is a completely different thread.

Talking about this 1 game. Between two teams in basically identical position now.

But that's for commenting

Hall still has to beat Gtown too because I doubt they win @ Butler. I'll concede Depaul.

Would be interesting to see what happens if we all finish 9-9. Wonder if PCs potential sweep of us outweighs their losses to Depaul and BC.

I would take the Rick SLU program right now.

And if you wanna get really optimistic, we now are in 4th place and control our destiny for 3rd.

Hall appears to be ok at 8-10.

Many had them in at 6-8. Now they have a top 50 win.

Everyone had us in at 7-7 so 9-9 we should be safe then...

Losses to St. John's and Georgetown by MU is not good either.

BossplayaOtto

It is Not a play-in game as if we lose to Providence but beat X and Creighton we are very likely in and there is still a decent chance to dance with 9-9 finish + wins in BET, which has been frequently discussed.

Of course, everyone would prefer a Win Saturday to enhance our chances give us some margin for error in last 2 games.

It is a big game and My prediction (hope) is that we get it done Saturday!!

If (when) we do, that doesn't mean the Friars are out either.

TAMU, Knower of Ball

No it is not a play in game. The committee will absolutely take 7 teams from the BEast if they deserve it. The B12 got 8/10 not too long ago. A lot of bubble teams from other conferences lost tonight. Good for the conference. If we lose to Providence, which is a big if, we still get in if we win @Xavier and home vs. Creighton.

Highly unlikely 7 from BE get in.

Georgetown RPI=77
St. Johns=123

Depaul RPI=223
BC RPI=204

Yeah, our losses look fine in comparison.

TAMU, Knower of Ball

I think people give Creighton too much credit since Mo Watson went down. They are 4-5 with home losses to Marquette, Providence, and a Sumner-less Xavier. Road losses to Georgetown and Hall. 2 of their 4 wins were gimmes against Depaul. One was a home win to Georgetown. Really their only win of significance was at Butler which is just one of those WTF games. I don't think Providence beating them was as big of an upset as some might think. I think we can beat them handily in Milwaukee.

Why?

Nova, Butler, Creighton are locks.

X just needs to win @DPL and they are a lock.

Providence wins out and they are a lock.

Hall wins @DPL and vs. GTWN and they are a lock.

Marquette loses at Providence but wins @X and Creighton and they are a lock.

Very easy path to 7 bids for the Big East.

MUfan12

1.5 weeks left for the major conferences, plus the league tourneys. There's way too much time left to declare anything a play-in game. A lot can change.

I like MU's chances to get two out of the last three.

GoldenZebra

Providence looked dang good. They have won 3 straight...

wadesworld

The problem for the Big East is there's Nova and Butler, and then there's a whole lot of mediocre. Xavier would've been solid if healthy and Creighton very good if healthy. Unfortunately they aren't healthy and as a result the BE as a whole takes a hit.

MU getting separation from the middle of the pack would've been more important than keeping 7 teams alive for a bid in the BE. Let's pretend the BE gets 7 in. Sure that looks really good. But when the BE record in the NCAA Tournament is 5-7 that's not great. I would've been perfectly happy with 4 BE teams in as long as MU was one of them and 2 of them did well.

Good news is if we respect the process and go 1-0 on Saturday that gives us some of that separation that would help.

Work wins.

Herman Cain

We need to win all 3 of our remaining plus 1 BET game to get in. That would give us 21 wins.

Number of wins doesn't matter in the slightest. If we win our next 3 we're talking about seeding rather than if we're in or not.

Pretty sure he's just auditioning for Scoop Takes...

The Big East can and at this point probably should get 7 teams in.

muguru

Just realized that if MU wins Saturday there is a VERY likely chance, it will(at least for now) move into the 3 spot in the BE(Creighton @ Nova). That is EXACTLY where we want them to be or at least i do.
