I checked into that. On United's site, they say one cannot access streaming sites.

Even Tunein radio?
That gets the radio feed atleast? United those dummies.

We are currently in the tournament according to 107 out of 115 bracketologists. Why would you think that we need to win 4 games in a row in order to make it? 2-2 likely does it. 3-1 to be sure. 1-3 give us a shot. 4-0 would likely get us to 7-9 seed range depending on how other teams do.

I think 1-3 gets us in at 9-9 even with a BET loss.

This bubble is poor. (We are part of it...) but I think there will be a few surprise losses still to come for bubble teams. We just need to avoid being those losses.

Thanks to you and others for the radio tips. I'll check into it.

Anybody know if Sirius / XM is carrying the game?  Will be driving and probably out of range of 540 for the 2nd Half.  I might be able get tune-in to play through my car but Sirius / XM would be ideal.

While Saturday isn't a "play-in" game, Matty V noted on Twitter that if MU, SHU, and Providence all finish 9-9 as KenPom predicts, MU can win the tiebreaker only if MU beats Providence on Saturday. It'd be nice to have that. BEAT PROVIDENCE.

1 small note.

It's more likely we go 3-2 then 3-1. Which is still fine.

But if we finish 2-1 and win our first BET game we'd still have to lose the second one.

Yup.

I probably pulled a bit of a Heisenberg with my thread title and opening to grab attention. But the basis was how much bigger this game became with Providence dashing into the picture.

If it were a true Heisy, the thread would have been titled, "Is Saturday a Play-In Game?" And the answer would be whatever he said it was.

Meh.  PC also lost to SJU, and Ohio State (who is at best similar to Georgetown).  I don't think a road loss @ Gt hurts much, and if a road loss @ SJU is your worst loss, you're doing OK.
I was not necessarily saying these losses were as bad as Providences, but more pointing out we have some clunkers. We were beaten by a several points in those two games, while Providence lost to DePaul by one. RPI does not take into account margins, but I have to believe the committee when they are dissecting the last few teams notice margins.

They will, but they will also dissect other computer numbers, all of which have us far above SHU and PC.

If we lose the next three, but make the Big East finals, are we in?

As long as we win the Big East Finals.

I would be very nervous. 9-9 and I believe a Big East tournament win last year earned Creighton an NIT bid. 8-10 and a Big East tournament win last year earned MU a place in front of the TV set. Our schedule is better than last year, but not as much as we were hoping. Assume we beat Creighton and lose to Xavier and Providence to get to 9-9, which would give each of our competitors another win. I think 2 of Xavier, MU, Seton Hall and Providence make it and the other two do not.

MomofMUltiples

But, last year many deserving teams were left out.  This year it seems more like many "undeserving" teams (based on previous years' metrics) will be let in.

I'd be pretty shocked at this point if only 5 BE teams made it.  X is still in fine shape.  Their RPI is 22.

You have to analyze these things with an eye on the larger picture.  Are they really going to take a 5-13 ACC team over a .500 BE team?  No chance.

I agree with this...SH and PV are coming on strong...no backing into 9-9 and getting in.

Other thoughts:
1. 10-8 will get any of the 4 in no matter what the outcomes...mathematically possible for all 4.
2. 8-10 for any of the 4 leaves them out.
2. BET tourney will be a factor...maybe even some tiebreaking games.
3. 9-9 (18-12) MU looks weaker than 9-9 (19-12) Providence if they beat us twice.
4. 9-9 (18-12) MU looks weaker than 9-9 (19-11) SH
5. 9-9 (19-12) Xavier (only beating DePaul) will need a BET win. That will be an ugly finish.

Simply counting wins and losses isn't a very scientific method of determining who looks better in a 3 way 9-9 tie. Hopefully the committee puts more thought into it than that. X will be fine at 9-9. They ate very solidly in the field right now.

Dude, just buy plane wifi and watch it online!

Note:  Many flights, especially United and AA, still do not have over water wifi on Hawaiian flights.  Download your books and movies before.  Wifi ends in LA.

82, where you landing? Neither Lihue nor Kona have airport bars that I remember. Waiting for bags is a chore as well.

Hang ten!

Yah I figured that out last year when I flew to Maui in early January. That was Alaskan airlines. Only MU game I've missed since the Omaha debacle that wasn't televised last minute.

IIRC, I thought he said he was landing in LAX, I suppose I figured on a layover, but maybe coming from HI. In either event, doesn't sound like it matters!

Yep, more than just wins and losses. How we finish, how the conference will be represented. I say 5 unless 10-8s override. Numbers like RPI. Health of the team. Head2head with other bubbles. Prejudices of committee members. Yep all of it. And I stick with what I said.

Fair enough. I think anyone 9-9 or better from the BE gets in. I think 6 is the likely number. The info available would seem to suggest that any of the BE teams at 9-9 get in (PC w probably the worst case at 9-9), but I guess we'll see.

Agreed, and I'm thinking we'll get 7 teams in. Saturday is big, but neither Marquette nor Providence would be eliminated with a loss.

Doc, the game will be going on during the ORD-to-LAX portion of my looooong journey. I will be landing at LAX just after 3 p.m. (5 p.m. MU time). I won't be picking up any bags because they will be checked through to LIH (I hope!). If MU-PU go OT, not sure I'd even be able to find an airport bar with CBSSN.
