While I don't necessarily know how much stock the committee takes in "20 wins", its another reason why leaving a non-con game unscheduled is silly.  I understand that this year it may have happened because the Utah game fell apart last minute, but hopefully next year we play all of our allotted games. I do recall Broeker mentioning in an interview preseason that he did not expect Marquette to play their full 13 games next season either.

I would take the Rick SLU program right now.

Can this statement and your statement regarding not scheduling cupcakes in the other thread co-exist?

I think 20 wins for a high major team (Marquette), in a high major conference (Big East), passes the eye test.

Let's get 1 tomorrow and see where we go from there.

I'm hoping for two Saturday, IMO.

You can schedule buy games without scheduling 250+ RPI horsesh*t teams.  Big difference.

Wojo knows what he has to do.

The team is playing inspired in the last two games in a consistent manner, which is something that has been lacking. We'll get really for Villanova and then crap in our pants. That has not happened in the last week or so.

Providence is an absolute MUST win. Period. Lose that game and the guys will be at Joan of Arc praying for a trip to Dayton. Win it and we're well-positioned to run the table or at least get a win at home against Creighton. Either probably gets us in.

Three initials no one wants to see N-I-T. It's for losers.

PC is NOT A must win.  This has been discussed elsewhere, but it is a big game.  One we definitely WANT to win.  But Marquette is far from eliminated from an at large to the NCAA if they lose on Saturday.

I'd love to see 1-0 on Saturday.

So what crazy OCD do you have that compels you to post the same silly thing over and over?

The OCD of winning.

Yeah that makes no sense.  You repeating the same thing over and over has no bearing on winning.  Hate to break it to you, but nothing anyone does here has any impact at all (except of course game day superstitions, those have a very significant impact).  You aint on the team.  Get over it.

What do I need to get over?

PC is a must win. No doubt about it.

We can split the the remaining two, but would then need to win at least one @ MSG.

No. 10-8 in any way is stone cold lock.

I'd love to see 1-0 on Saturday.

I'd rather see 18-10. Starting the season over at this point would be a terrible idea, especially since the most wins we could get (without the auto-bid) would be 5, and I'm sure that wouldn't be enough to get into the NCAAs.

That's be a low scoring game, but it's possible with our improved defense!

No matter what happens on Saturday, our record will not be 1-0. It will either be 18-10 or 17-11, and you repeating that inane mantra won't change that.

No, our record in games played on Saturday, February 25, 2017 is going to either be 1-0 or 0-1.  Which is what I've been saying all along.  Unless there's some wild weather or issues with the water in the area or power or something causing the game to be postponed.  In which case we would be 0-0 in our games on that day.  Nobody said we'd be 1-0 on the season.

That'd be like going into all the "What if we go 2-2 in our next 4 games?" and saying, "We can't go 2-2 in our next four games!  We'll be 19-10!"  Uhh, what?  19-10 in our next 4 games?  Hmm...

Our record will be either 17-11 or 18-10. The Selection Committee doesn't look at your record on any given day. They look at your record over the course of a season. So all this posturing about "focus on one game" for fans that aren't on the team is ridiculous and makes you sound like that overimportant fan that somehow thinks their actions will have bearing on the outcome of the game.

They won't. Just like our record come Saturday night won't be 1-0 or 0-1, no matter how hard you might wish it was.

Edited the post.  Saying our record on Saturday will be 17-11 or 18-10 is like going into all the threads like "What happens if we go 2-2 in our last 4 games?" and saying, "Wait!  That's not possible!  We can't ignore the first 25 games of the year!  We'll be 19-10!  We can't be 2-2 in our last 4, it's 19-10!"  The math doesn't add up.  19-10 in our last four games?  Yeah...no.

Nobody said the Selection Committee will look at our record only on February 25, but as of right now the most important game is Saturday and going 1-0 in our single game on Saturday is incredibly important to getting to the ever important 10 BE wins.  We can't win 18 games and lose 10 games in a day we play 1 game.

Wades, get a job. Or a harder job. Or a hobby. Or an additional website to post on. Or a 2nd point to make. thank you for your 26 posts and counting so far today. I now understand that we are only playing one game on Saturday, and we should focus on that game.
