As of 2/5/17:

MU PPG 83.7
Opponents PPG 74.9

Is this the highest average ever on both ends? Can't find older history before '94.

Jay Bee

It's incredible.

We're scoring 1.17 ppp this season and are slightly BETTER in BEast play than we were in nonconference.

I'm surprised.

Amazing offense. Bad defense. Fun times. Let's get to the tourney and pour in 1.35 ppp against a good team and win.

I believe 84.2 in 1955 was the highest offensive average for the season.
Followed by 1971 at 81.7 and 1966 at 80.2

Most points allowed?
1957 allowed 75.4 which I think is the most
followed by 74.2 way back in 2016

Even more impressive when you consider that these averages were accomplished before there was such a thing as a 3-point shot.
Have some patience, FFS.

I know that eFG% reigns supreme but we are currently the #1 3 point shooting percentage team in the country right now at 42.6%. Simply amazing turnaround in that department over the last 3 years.

Great point, chickadee.

I saw Scott Skiles score 45 for MSU at Minnesota, most of them coming on long jumpers. Had there been a 3-point shot, he would have had 60.

The trey has changed college hoops big-time, and it becomes the focal point more and more every year.

I'm glad we finally have a team that can outscore opponents from behind the arc. It's no coincidence that we're finally back in the mix for an NCAA bid. You can't get outscored by 21 or 30 or 36 points behind the arc, game after game after game, in today's college hoops and hope to have any kind of season at all.

Maravich averaged over 43 points a game all 3 years at LSU. Woulda averaged over 50 with the 3 point shot.

Did the college game have a shot clock in the 1955?

I want to say no.

Same thing. eFG% is what it is because of 3FG% & volume of 3FGA relative to other attempts

Before the season, thought a 5.8% eFG% differential was doable. We're at 5.9% now, but our offense has been better than projected, offset by defense being worse

No,  he transferred out of Tom Crean's program down at Indiana.
