Xavier's Edmond Sumner injured?
« on: January 27, 2017, 06:09:39 PM »
There was an article today saying they're shutting him down for surgery because of a torn something or other. Could decimate Xavier if true and leave no 2 or 3 spot open for the taking.

Could be very interesting. X is already reeling, having lost 4/5. Their resume is NCAA quality, but maybe not as good as it once looked, with Clemson as the best win and Georgetown the best road win. Freshman Quentin Goodin is a big step down, and I'm not sure Macura or Blueitt would be better as the point. It sure feels like the fight for the top-three in the league is us, Nova, and Butler at this point.

I never wish ill or injuries on another team or player, but....... wow, the way the pieces are falling into place, a surprisingly high finish is there for the taking if the team steps up.

Always hate to see kids on other teams get injured, but it's a part of the game MU fans know well.  We certainly have a chance to make some noise this year.  My, how things have changed in a week....

Poked my head over on the X boards, the fans seem to think it is a real possibility. He's been playing hurt for awhile and it might end up affecting his draft status. Might want to get healthy in time for the draft.

I am starting to fret the NCAA tournament from a Big East perspective.  Watson down now Sumner is not good.  Ugh.  Going to a tough going for the Big East me thinks.

MU is #4 in the country right now in offense....
when Wojo fixes up that D right before the BET... we will be a sweet 16 team for sure... (insert hopefulness here)
so I'm not too worried about the BEast's presence in the NCAA's this year.

Yah, it's unfortunate.

I still think the Big East has 3 teams capable of deep runs given the right draw.

How was it horrible? I didn't say I wanted the kid injured. Nobody deserves injury, I was commenting on the state of the league being blown open.

They did feature on Sumner on Fox Sports 1 and he is a very good kid . A computer science major. Hope is not done for the year.

Butler. I know they're on the heels of a bad loss at home and have been shaky in away games, but they've been a good neutral court team, play smart, complete games, and don't have any glaring deficiencies.

I see Butler and Nova as the only teams that can make the second weekend. I see Nova as the only team that can make it past the S16.

If we string together two good shooting nights, we could make the second weekend, we could also get bounced in Dayton. As far as Butler, I like Holtmann's chances against almost anyone given a week to prepare. Think they can make the Elite 8, but could struggle with the quick turnaround.

This.  A high-powered offense is not the team you want to play in March... especially one that goes 9-deep on its bench and doesn't have many guys going over 30 MPG in conference play.  Avoid the 7-10 seed lines, and a S16 could be just as likely as a nosedive in Dayton.
Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

If are 3s don't fall we will be out right away but if they do...now we are talking. Also we need to play with high energy every game not just when we play top 10 teams

If that is just a hyper extension he is the luckiest guy alive.  Looked terrible, would be nearly miraculous if nothing is torn.
