If that is just a hyper extension he is the luckiest guy alive.  Looked terrible, would be nearly miraculous if nothing is torn.

You're not kidding.

TAMU, Knower of Ball

Yikes...knees aren't supposed to do that.

I do know, Newsie is right on you knowing ball.

Sumner also has very skinny legs.  Not sure how that would impact severity of potential injury.

Get the shoulder fixed at the same time.  Good luck, young man.

Damn that sucks. Best of luck to the kid
Retire Terry Rand's jersey!

Herman Cain

A really great kid , hate to see this happen to anyone. Hopefully they fix his shoulder too , as that was in bad shape. Recovering from both is going to take a long time.

That's a damn shame.  Hate to see it.  Will likely return to X next year now, I imagine.

I would take the Rick SLU program right now.

Even one of the announcers said, "I don't want to see that replay again."
If you think for one second that I am comparing the USA to China you have bumped your hard.

Brutal looking, don't want to see it again.....hopefully he comes back well, he's a fun player to watch hoop

He is such a good kid and player. Hope he comes back next season even better

WOJOSWARRIORS77

Feel bad for the kid. Has some real NBA potential, hopefully this doesn't set him back too far.

GoldenDieners32

With him out, is MU favored in every matchup the rest of the season?

No, because the computer metrics don't realize he's out yet.

Damn.  That's two of the league's best players.  NEVER want to see athletes get hurt.

Super bummer really. Going to maybe put a dent in the BEast's performance in the tourney.

Having said that... MU has been there. So we should really maybe try to take advantage of their misfortune.

Hope all the best for them.

Hope even better for us.

MU guards I felt had no chance to guard him, a real mismatch.  Cheatham not quick enough and the other guards to small.  MU has a chance to beat them at least
once now, maybe twice.  Blueitt (sp) is really a good player, hard to stop him, but much easier without Sumner on the team.  X will be challenged now.

And that other guard they had transferred, Myles Davis

Davis did not transfer, graduated.  Wants to get on in his life I guess?  I would think they would beg him to comeback.

I'm not so sure about that. I don't think he left on the best of terms considering he was a few weeks removed from returning from suspension when he bolted again. Pretty sure the departure was in all parties' best interests.

I don't think they'd take Davis back if he begged them!

Again, the misfortune of other teams ought not to be something MU can "take advantage of" or is "better for us."

It's just plain $h*tty for all involved. It's not an opportunity.

My initial thought was that this was pretty dead on, but...

Of course it's an opportunity. These injuries, added to the early upsets, have moved Marquette from hoping to be top six to being a competitor for second place.

Considering the moaning that is going on within the fanbase (with even decades long Blue & Gold bleeders turning down free tickets to games) to be relevant again, I'm not sure anyone cares how MU makes the NCAA. They just need to make it.
