Now THAT is far from Philly.

SO much for the wanting to be closer to home narrative...

Maybe the injured knee will heal better in the higher altitude?

That seems like such a fall, no?  I thought for sure that he would end up at a Temple-St Joe's type school, i.e., a high mid major

He has to find a school that has an opening and will give him playing time.  And I'm not sure what he did that would make him attractive to a higher level school.

wadesworld

He hasn't committed anywhere.

Either because you're a major homer, got used to watching horrible PG play for 6 years or you let what others say  on this board sink in.

I am with this guy...Not sure why so many people seem to think Traci would get the attention of a high major. Couldn't get minutes here

TAMU, Knower of Ball

High major no but I think he is more than capable of starting for a better mid major (which New Mexico State is). A lot of times when players transfer from high majors, they go a little lower than they need to in order to ensure playing time. They already overestimated themselves once, not going to let it happen again. As charged as the Dawson conversation is, I think he could have gotten decent minutes fur a better program than Liberty. But I'm sure he wanted to guarantee that he would be starting.

Actually Dawson's minutes have decreased this year.  About 6 minutes less per game.  Not sure if he is injured, but his productivity has decreased as well.

MU Fan in Connecticut

I just realized last week that Liberty is in the Big East ------ for women's field hockey.

He averaged 24 mpg last year as a frosh and 16 mpg this year. Bit disingenuous to say he "couldn't" get minutes here.

Iona under Tim Cluess and Hofstra under Joe Mihalich have also been among the better mid-majors. He's still looking at quality programs, but I also thought it'd be somewhere actually in Philly, though I don't know the scholarship situations at La Salle, St. Joe's, or Temple.

I agree but I personally categorize Iona and Hofstra as low majors. I think Iona works be a great landing spot for him. Solid program

Juan Anderson's Mixtape

I looked at the A-10 Philly teams and most have their PG situation settled.  Not really a place desperate for a PG.  Traci wouldn't be guaranteed big minutes at any of them.

He was recruited over. Lost 50% of his minutes after one year, largely to a freshman.  He was going to struggle to get minutes moving forward.

Right. But he got minutes at a program at our level, plain and simple. 16 mpg, while a reduction, is still getting minutes, especially as an underclassman. "Couldn't get minutes here" is a falsehood.

I think the implication was "meaningful minutes."  20+ per game or so.

Sure, he got minutes but those minutes were going to decrease this season and likely in the next 2 seasons as well. Last season, Traci was the only true PG on the roster. This season a true frosh has taken a bulk of the minutes at PG and Howard's minutes will continue to increase both this season and going forward.

Traci can play at MU's level, but as a back-up. If he wants to get 25-30 minutes a night, he'd be better off taking a step down.

Why couldn't Traci have played the point and Howard the 2G????

Because a line up of Howard, JJJ and Cheatham is better than a line of of Traci, Howard and either JJJ or Cheatham.

I think interchanging JJ and Cheatham at times would've been a great plan, and it would've opened more time for Traci, but what's done is done.

Definitely puts us in the market for a 2017 or 2018 PG.

In order for this to be true, HC better work his way out of his slump, we need him.
