I guess the tongue-in-cheek tone of my original message didn't come through, as implying that Diener couldn't fall down a coaching ladder since he isn't really on it (as the Director of Player Personnel) was what did the falling. I'll try harder next time.

Yes, the mug rack and adjoining pool hall at the Brooks Memorial Union enjoyed my from my presence from 84-88.

sorry-meant no disrespect

pool hall was my temporary training ground(77-81) for da gym, da 'lanche, hegs, da circle inn??? and da ardmore.  putting ones quarters on the tables was like a mating ritual.  loved to watch opponents chit themselves when ya unzipped your own stick, 'ey? the ole mcdermott special

How about DWade replacing Mac?   He can't have too many years left to play.

Be nice to have a former star of his caliber court-side.

Wade ain't moving back here to do Marquette radio.

Never say never. He and Ms. Union could live high off da hog  in a nice duplex in Cudahy, hey?

Did anybody mention Tony Miller? One of Marquette's great point guards, with coaching experience at USC. Think he would provide some great insight and perspective.

Or maybe Tony Smith could add Marquette to his work as an analyst for the Bucks.

Not Wade, but anothere NBA player would be great.  I  think a lot of the McIllvaine insight comes from his professional experience and not college basketball.  It would not suprise me if he did some national color as he has paid his dues in Milwaukee and has greatly upped his broarcasting game over the years.

Novak? Not a chance he has much longer left in him. Seems to be very knowledgeable about the game and is an MU legend
Retire Terry Rand's jersey!

Novak would be perfect.  Lives around here .. MU legend, many years in the NBA.

We have a winner.

Great time talking with two #MUBB legends, Earl and Homer! I could get used to this gig!

I'll second the motion, looks like a fun way for a young man to give back in retirement.  Please, no former coaches or refs, ha.

Honestly, it doesn't have to be anyone tied to Marquette. McIlvaine has been good not because he's a basketball alum but because he's insightful and entertaining. If they find someone of quality, I don't care if they went to Marquette, played for Marquette, or think we're in Michigan. As long as they deliver a quality broadcast, that's all we really need.

Anyone can capture the requisite enthusiasm when it's their job to do so. Just look at Homer. He has plenty of excitement in the broadcast, but it's clear in his daily talkshow that Marquette isn't a priority for him or his station.

Hell sign me up. I finish my masters degree this year and have some broadcasting experience. Where do I drop off my resume?

There are a lot of very good coaches in the Diener family, but none are Stew Morrill.

Novak's dad coached him at Brown Deer I believe.

Any of Artie Green, O Lee, Greg Johnson, or Terry Reason, hey?
Artie Green definitely had the hops.

He's mentioned Texas numerous times on Twitter.  I don't remember the timeline.

He started off a bit rocky with Homer, but he really settled in and was fantastic compliment.

Mac is awesome.  My favorite line was when Homer was talking up his MU career, and Mac replied in a deadpan voice that he was only the second best center named Jim to have played at his high school.

Classic Mac.

Heh, not quite. You haven't seen my twitter the past few days.

Do miss the food though. The grub in London is as bad as everyone makes it out to be.

Standard British fare is pretty bad.  I might suggest Belgo Centraal in Covent Garden, particularly if you like mussels and/or Belgian beer though.  The Indian food is also incredible.  And of course, a kebab anytime after 2:00am really hits the spot.

From my perspective Tony Smith would be a nice addition to the broadcast however he could show a little more enthusiasm than he does on the Bucks broadcasts.
I suspect Novak goes straight into coaching.  Seems like he's doing a lot of that already on the Bucks.
Fitz seems really cool and in the past has used social media well which would also be a nice dimension to continue.

Can't imagine these gigs pay much.  A guy like Tony Smith who never made big money in the NBA might actually need a real paying job.  Same for Fitz.

You'll miss the dentists, too.

Take note, MU dental students.  There is a whole untapped market out there, appx 60 million strong.
