Indeed, we should start the replacement list of MU players who'd be good next to Homer.
Joe Nethen?

Not sure if it would line up with what they are doing personally but I would like Novak, Otule or D Wilson.

In true Scoop chat fashion my ridiculous suggestion would be Cooby - but just for the blow-outs

Blue, but he wouldn't be there at the finish.
Jerel, but he would keep turning it over to Homer at the wrong time.
Rod Grosse, but he would be there at the beginning of each half and then disappear.
Otule, but he would only see half of the game.
Mayo, but he would spend the game talking about his brother.
Ammo, but he would cash in doing all of the casino commercials.
The quality big man that Crean recruited and developed, but he is a fictional character.
Odartey Blankston, but he would rather do radio at UNLV.
Dameon Mason, but he isn't as good at is as everybody thought he would be.
JjJ, but he keeps losing his train of thought.
Luke 6:45   ...A good man produces goodness from the good in his heart; an evil man produces evil out of his store of evil.   Each man speaks from his heart's abundance...

It is better to be fearless and cheerful than cheerless and fearful.

+1 Tower.

My mind wondered about Diener. Especially since he's likely to fall a rung down the coaching ladder when Wojo brings in an experience, defensive guru as a mentor (though I know that would cost of the other guys their job, not Diener's).

Marcus92

Dan Fitzgerald, who organized Marquette's alumni team for The Basketball Tournament this past summer, finished his playing career in 2015 and works for Jacobus Wealth Management in Wauwatosa.

I believe Scott Merritt recently wrapped up his playing career overseas and joined the coaching staff of the MU women's basketball team.

McAllvane said he was buying a horse farm in Texas for his wife, or something like that.   I  was cought by suprise so my scratch pad was turned off.

Baby, what baby, yes it is about family priorities.  Don't mean to spread rumors, but it was on a public broadcast, I  hope my old memory is working on this one, ha.

He mentioned this during the Houston Baptist game broadcast that Will Gates sat in on, mentioned he was looking to move down near San Antonio, you can listen to this on iTunes podcast of the game (really nice that ESPN/MU are putting up the highlights podcast, Wojo post-game interview and Full Gamecast the day after the game on iTunes)

Shaka may be available after the season.  Would be a Smart hire.

Greg "Pope" Johnson would liven things up.

If Texas canned him, they would no longer be Strong nor Smart.

Just going along with the dream/request of many scoopers. I certainly wouldn't be privy to any particular plans.

Because Travis is Director of Player Personnel, not a bench coach

To avoid full thread derailment......I'd recommend Dr Otule for the Mac replacement

How about Kevin O'Neill?

Not sure he's doing anything.... but wait, half the things he would say you can't broadcast!

KO would be awesome.  I used to love listening to him on the radio when they let regular folks call in to ask questions.  Typical exchange:

Caller:  I think you ought to run more plays that set Damon Key up for the three.

KO:  Why don't you do whatever you do for a living and let me coach the team?
Have some patience, FFS.

I agree on KO on the post game call in show. It was a classic. Several times a year I would call in to KO and ask him how much he missed having Anthony Candelino running the point and it was great response every time.

I guess the tongue-in-cheek tone of my original message didn't come through, as implying that Diener couldn't fall down a coaching ladder since he isn't really on it (as the Director of Player Personnel) was what did the falling. I'll try harder next time.

Yes, the mug rack and adjoining pool hall at the Brooks Memorial Union enjoyed my from my presence from 84-88.
